Well damn, I thought the rest of the thread title was going to say..."meet Palin at high noon with dueling pistols."

Clearly conservatives fear intelligence, education, books and common sense.

^^ Liberals shoot themselves in the foot with those types of statements. Making a blanket statement that probably only applies to a small percentage of conservatives is unfair. More than that, it makes it hard to take you seriously.

There's a two party system in the US. Ultimately, we have to find some common ground. How will that be done if (some) liberals keep making such polarizing statements?

I'm fairly conservative and I have two advanced degrees and read all of the time. How exactly do you explain that?

That was a reply to the earlier statement about Liberals fearing strong women...it was also tongue in cheek.

I tend to be conservative as well, but the current conservative make-up of the Republicans most recently in power bears close to zero resemblance to traditional conservative and Republican values. You cannot have Sarah Palin having run as VP, a heartbeat from the presidency, and say that intelligent discourse is a priority of the Republican party - they are mutually exclusive concepts.

I agree. But the same point applies to some conservatives who make polarizing statements about anyone who isn't conservative. So, both sides need to back down off the polarizing statements.

I totally agree. I never said anywhere that conservatives are without fault.

I'm sorry, but I feel little sympathy for conservatives. Sure, there are some moderates out there, but hey're a tiny ineffectual minority.. kind of like "nice" christians. The problem with 'conservatism' and to a large degree "christianity", is that the vast hordes of mouthbreathing retards were given permission, about 20 years back, to come into the big christoconservative tent in order to get enough votes to win.

After that, the retards took right over and became the bellicose, ignorant, and fearful republican party we see today. They rolled the dice with the nuts on their fringe and they, the entire country, and a good chunk of the world lost as a result.

    So yeah.. boo freaking hoo.
