John Edwards indicted on conspiracy, campaign-law violations

Maybe, maybe not. It can definitely be used by a grand jury to indict or as a sentencing impact statement, but unless his and her lawyers were there with the opportunity to question her, it probably can't be used as evidence. We'll have to wait and see.

I doubt Elizabeth did this. I get tired of all the talk about her cutting him out of her will too. They were still married so all joint assetts passed to him anyway.

I also do not believe he should be indicted. The people who donated the money knew what it was for and did not donate to the campaign. There are far too many prosecutors now saying this is a really flimsy case and a destortion of the campaign laws and will not stand. No doubt he is a lying cheating asshole but this looks like abuse of the legal system to me just so some prosecutor can make name for themselves.

^^I've heard its a really risky case for the Prosecutors too and many have wondered if perhaps their time/money would be better spent elsewhere. Pains me too...

That is incorrect. You can disinherit your spouse to varying degrees depending on state law. Since we haven't heard of him fighting the will, I would assume Elizabeth's estate was distributed as she willed. Plus, since they were separated (and very publically too) that would support his disinheritance. Yes, he could fight it, but it doesn't look like he's going to.

Secondly, whether donators knew they were donating to Rielle and not the campaign is a question for a jury to decide.

Personally I find John Edwards' prosecution to be awfully hypocritical. Governments do the same thing he did all the time. Like a jurisdiction places a tax raise on the ballot to fund schools, it passes, then later you find out they unilaterally decided to use that money for something else like a stadium or whatever. That pisses me off.

I just feel badly for the kids. Their mother was cheated on in such a public way by their father, with all the details for the world to see. Now she is dead and he will probably go to prison. Their other brother was killed in a horrible accident. At least the three remaining have each other. And I guess a half-sister too.

Alice PLEASE. I love you too, but here goes. You have fucked many a loser. Over and over and over and over. Not judging you, I've done it too & I'm just stating facts. Your answer to the knocked-up-by-a-loser dilemma is abortion and you disapprove of a woman's choice to have the baby in this situation.

Turn the tables a minute and think about it. Women have been harshly judged for a long time when they choose abortion. Is that right? Or is it not actually about CHOICE and it's about doing what's right? Who determines what's right? You? Me? Jerry Falwell? Westboro Baptist Church?

How about supporting women whichever choice they make? Regardless if they choose having the baby or having an abortion, they got there by having sex with a guy who was not the greatest choice. I can't judge that, and you shouldn't either. So stop this nonsense, because you're not making these comments because you're worried about any children. You're doing it because you're still mad at some people on this board.
