It gets worse. Hilary campaigned for Barry Goldwater (former rep. Pres. Cand. who is somewhere to the right of Charleton Heston). She switched allegiances after getting involved with Bill. The source for that was a political bio - Partners in Power, that came out in the 90's.

I don't believe she said it. This is dirty politics.

Weasels are rumour mongering in order to discredit candidates. Closer to the election, the more outrageous crap we will hear about all the candidates. It's disgusting that this is the level of discourse to which we've sunk.
We're in store for some fantastic scandals!

Hilary hooked up with Bill in college. 20 year old kids are allowed to change their mind about politics. I did.

Hillary's anti-semitic comments are not uncommon. She has made them before. Of course, when Jesse Jackson gets away with things like 'Hyme town' as does Al Sharpton, I guess Jews are kinda not that important when it comes to disparaging remarks.
Jesse Jackson didn't get away with anything. His presidential campaign was completely derailed by it. In fact, when the whole Imus controversy broke and Jesse, in his self-appointed role as black spokesperson/leader, was speaking out on it, the interviewer reminded him about his 'hymie town' comment and completely shut Jesse up.

Goldberg's momma was involved with the Lewinsky tapes and he's a right wing nutjob from the National Review, I don't think anyone cares about what he thinks about anything especially if it involves the Clintons.

Well National Review certainly has an agenda, but aren't you being a little hard on ole JG? I mean he's no David Frum.

Me neither. Not enough people will actually care about that comment (if it's true) to eliminate her completely.

guys, 'exonerate' means that she was freed of the allegations. She didn't say it, at least according to the NY Times.

As much as I would LOVE for her to have said this, and as much as I dislike Hilary.

Ah yes. I remember that now. Jesse DID shut up. Nonetheless, I think there is a double-standard when it comes to obviously hurtful remarks about Jews. Well, unless your Mel Gibson.

The two people who were there when Hillary said it to them directly still stand by their story to this day.

You're right. There is a double standard. And I thinks it's because when somebody makes a remark about Jews they don't tend to get as vocal as say black people would in the same situation. 'Cause we'll jump on that in a minute and be a little more...confrontational about it. Plus, Jews don't have their own version of Sharpton and Jesse to shoot their mouths off like black people do. Those two alone tend to scare the shit out of the media, whether we want them to or not.

In Mel's case, he was still dealing with all of the heat he took from Passion of the Christ, so when he shot his mouth off that was just the last straw.

I'm not so sure. There have been so many incidents of 'hate speech', and the response to it, that I think a sort of precedent has been set. Look at how many people have been ruined over statements they've made: Mel Gibson, Isaiah Washington, Don Imus, etc. Of Course Halle Berry had a close call on the Tonight Show, and Will Smith only recently dug himself out. We have to wait and see if his career survives. not to mention Rosie O Donnell's 'ching chong' bit on The View, only days after taking a swipe at Kelly Ripa, for her ambiguous remark about Clay Aitken. Clay was the only one who showed any class out of the bunch, he kept silent about it.

Now of course hateful speech is wrong, and public people have a responsibility to be aware of what comes out of their mouths. However some people were sledge hammered over off the cuff comments - that as we've seen can be made by people of any race or sexual orientation. So is it too late to get the genie back in the bottle? Or will Hilary get a pass on this - for the 'greater good' of 'politically like minded people'? It's a hot potato eh?
