Why do Republicans feel the need to state that the surge and war have been a success and democrats were wrong? IMO it's been a failure.

Again, it's simple, the reason why the blind pro war crowd feel a need to constantly harp about the success of the surge and the overall "liberation" of Iraq is because the reality is quite damning.

The reality is that millions of Iraqis have been displaced, horribly maimed, and killed, a country has been fractured in ways we can't even imagine. Coalition and American lives have also been horribly maimed and killed, our economy in shambles and still sending billions and billions of dollars a year to Iraq alone just so some fragile "peace" can be gloated over.

I guess it's a hard thing to tell all those people and their families mentioned above that the Iraq war was a debacle and nightmare. How would you feel if you or your loved ones was affected and the very architects of this nightmare admitted that it was all a big f**king mistake and nightmare? It would be an insult upon insult.

the surge also didn't accomplish its main goal of political reconciliation within the Iraqi gov.. they're still paralyzed.

Secondly, the only reason violence went down is because the various militias called a ceasefire.
