Yes, I know. But I think it's time we started to slowly ween ourselves off of it.

Other countries in the world are better equipped to deal with less oil than the US. The infrastructure of the US is built to run on cheap oil which is why the US will suffer more than Sweden or Germany.

yes, and the US is 3,537,441 square miles in size.

germany is 137,826 square miles...about the size of montana...

so clearly what works for them isn't going to apply to a country that is almost the size of Europe as a whole....

and it's not just the US...China cannot exist without oil, Russia either.....War will be fought over by these nations it if nothing changes.......

I go with pro-choice. This ends all doubt who I will be voting for. There are soooo many more votes she just lost McCain. McCain can have his religious narrow minded twits. Good luck,McCain. You & Bush keep in touch now, heah?

This woman is Dick Cheney in drag. Bounties on wolves, aerial wolf and bear hunts, take the polar bears off the endangered species list to allow for more trophy hunting, and shoot and club everything that can't get away from you, all while proclaiming yourself a CHRISTIAN!! I wasn't sure before, but now, it's Obama all the way!

jesus is not the reason i am anti-abortion. i believe abortion is murder, plain and simple. not because the bible told me so (i don't think the bible actually says anything about abortion??? i don't know). i think a woman has the right to make choices about her body, but when her choice involves another person (ie, fetus, unborn child, zygote, whatever you want to call it), sorry, she is not just choosing for herself anymore.

But how can you protect the fetus/baby without controlling the host whose body it is literally living off of? Doesn't the host whose blood and bones are being used to sustain another being have the right o decide whether or not it wants to continue that relationship? How is that different than ordering me to donate a kidney becasue someone else really needs it? Not to mention that pregnancy can cause many medical conditions that threaten a woman's health and sometimes her very life. Who is anyone to tell me I must continue to experience a medical condition for the benefit of someone else, born or unborn?

Exactly! Technically, a fetus is a parasite which draws nourishment from its host.

[quote=Laurent;1349079]I personally think McCain made a good decision in choosing Palin in that she'll effectively pander to the undecided Democrats who are disgruntled about Hillary Clinton. As much as it pains me to say it, I'm convinced McCain is going to win, and have been for a very long time.

I have the same sinking feeling. I'm sorry, but Repubs pretty much run America no matter what. If they want their boy in office, I believe they will use whatever dirty tactics they used for Georgie boy to get elected twice. I know they tampered with the voting machines his first election. I'm preparing for the worst here.

sorry, but a kidney and a fetus are not comparable. the reason the fetus/baby is in the "host" is because the host made a choice to have sex. i don't want to hijack this thread and make it about abortion. i'm sure there is nothing i can say to change your mind, and likewise, nothing you can say will change mine.
