Look folks .......... it's been against the rules for YEARS!!!!

Even if John Kerry had been elected.
Don't matter ..... she broke the rules. She knew what they were beforehand.

i have to agree with this one. she planned on acting like an immature fool. It was the state of the union address, people.

If it was Kerry giving the address as president, and some bible beating republicans came in to protest, would you say the same thing?

I was bitchslapped for saying this before, but it now seems that several of you agree. The woman is a mentally unstable self-publicist who is understandably grief-stricken and slightly unhinged at the death of her son (who enlisted, he wasn't a conscript). I think lots of people sympathise with her personal tragedy, and her anti-war protest, but she is going about it the wrong way and it seems that people are getting very bored with her tedious antics.

I saw the tee shirt, it was black with a big white number on it, and it looked like she had taped fabric or paper over the last two numbers so it could be an up to date amount. I didn't see anything else on the shirt other than the number, but there could have been more. Bush doesn't like being confronted with the amount of kids he has had killed? Too bad. And if she had worn a tee shirt with a big American flag on it, she would have beel allowed to stay. Bush just can't handle any kind of contrary opinions.

She' a known trouble-maker. She should not have been there in the first place if they did not want the risk of her disrupting things. But some brainiac DID invite her (no doubt Cindy gave all kinds of reassurances that she'd be a good girl) so on that basis she should have been allowed to stay provided she followed the rules.

I'm on Cindy's side here though. It was just a t-shirt with a number on it! If you read her account which Grimm has so graciously posted, she said she would have taken off the shirt or put her sweater back on had she known the kerfuffle it would have caused (and of course written about her free speech freedoms being violated later! )

Well there's a difference.. One shirt is insulting to the president himself, the other is not. That's a huge difference.

One is insulting and inflammatory on a personal level, and the other is a number not related to the president personally.

Ahhhhh well that's an interesting point Grimm. Drawing a long bow, you could argue that it was Dubya's ultimate decision to push the War Button so the number of casualties arising from that decision IS about him personally. Cindy Sheehan certainly sees it that way and I'm sure it was her intention to cause him personal embarrassment.

I just don't really think that was a time or the place for a protest. It's the State of the Union Address--at least have respect for the office of the presidency & what is symbolizes, if not the president himself. Protest him on the streets or in the front of the White House, not at such a historical event.
