Would that be "filth", and if so, why?

Secondly, gays have been going at this for how many decades now? They tried being militant, they tried assimilating, they tried being nice, and mean, and diplomatic, and everything under the sun and so far, in the US, they're actually being legislated into oppression.

    What's left?
Gays aren't being oppressed. Iran is a place that oppresses (executes) gays. You have the full freedom to be homosexual in the US.

But states do have the power to regulate marriage, the power to decide what is in the best interest of society/the family unit. Most societies have concluded that it is not in their best interest to allow children, relatives, homosexuals or polygamists to marry. You may disagree with those conclusions, but the sheer number of countries that don't allow gay marriage must mean something.

purple rain that is a stupid reply. Not calling you stupid but just pointing out the obvious. The point that "most societies have concluded that it is not in their best interests to let homosexuals marry" is a bunch of bullshit. Most societies have not really thought about homosexuals getting married because it is a relatively new phenomenon. The sheer nmber of countries in the 1940s that didn't allow biracial marriages meant dick back then just as your "evidence" means dick now.

Homophobia is why society doesn't want gays to marry. That is all.

That and the big giggle book of fucked up angels in the sky had one story about God wiping out the gay sluts in one town.

I mean if you're going to argue this please say something that makes sense.........oh wait......you can't because nothing makes sense.

Yes, lack of equality is oppression.

Women not being allowed to vote is oppression.

Black people riding in the back of the bus is oppression.

You have the freedom to be gay in the US only inasmuch as you aren't hunted for sport as federal policy. Until very recently, anti-sodomy laws, police brutality and other oppressions were commonplace.

Most societies concluded that slavery was correct, that capital punishment for minor crimes was fine, and that interracial marriage was to be banned for the 'good of society'.

Children cannot marry because they dont have the life experienc in order to make that decision on a a developed enough level.. tho that doesnt stop many cultures from arranging said marriages.

Polygamists have a tendency to be cultish, but not all are like that. If they arent, they dont harm anybody else and affect not another person.

what an ignorant argument. Truly, stupendously shortsighted.

and yes, any sane person should disagree with ILLOGICAL and BASELESS oppression for the sake of it.

Nobody gave US the option to vote on straight marriages, or to even let you have them. What right do you have to dictate ours?

    You don't.

There was an organized voter response against it which involved, among other things, Scientology and the fundamentalists buddying up - politics makes strange bedfellows.

People always care what someone else is doing, it's the normal human tendency to meddle and interfere in the lives of others.

surely you can see how ridiculous that argument is.
the same arguments were used to deny women the right to vote. and many societies are still sexist. and not too long ago, all societies were. it still doesn't make it right.
