There are still restricted communities in the south, even though some hide behind other bullshit such as community interviews, background checks, etc. to keep the whitewash clean. If that doesn't work, get your marshmallows out, because your home will be a bonfire.

Any area which welcome Dopey Dumbya with open arms is below my standards.

The houses are too far apart for them to actually speak to neighbors, mind you! I went to a charity open house in that neighborhood. The master bedroom had drapes (pale blue) that cost 80 thousand dollars! Just the drapes!

That is totally disgusting. Did they have silk toilet paper, too? Excess at its worst.

Has anyone picketed or organized a group to run out the chimp who has roamed the White House for eight years? If they haven't, it's a welcome. Who wants toxic waste in their backyard.

Hmm, radioactive waste or Dubya? I'd suit up.

Girl, I am starting to think you will believe anything.

First the dick tattoo and now $80,000.00 curtains.
I think someone was lying to you.

The house, by California standards, isn't that expensive. Wasn't it 2 million?

The River Oaks had deed restrictions like that until the 70's I believe; I honestly think this is something nobody challenged or had changed. I truly doubt this was enforced.

No. I swear. They were floor to ceiling and all around the room. I have to say, they were beautiful. No joke. The bedroom was bigger than any I have ever seen-beautifully done! The "guide" lady was one of her friends-she ought to know.

Housing covenants that discriminate on the basis of race are unenforceable (using a court would be state action and violate the 14th amendment, discriminating against black people violates the civil rights act, etc. etc.). They haven't been enforceable for much longer than the covenant's repeal in 2000. They probably left the law on the books knowing it wasn't valid rather than spend time and money changing it.

Yeah, I was talking with a friend a little while ago and she said she knew of curtains that were WAY up there, too.
    I stand corrected! Sorry!

That's funny, Dubya's old place didn't allow black tenants until 2009.

And in that case, if one wanted to change the HOA rules when the majority didn't wouldn't that remain the case?

I would like to think that not everyone living within that area agreed with that ruling.... but having met a couple of Texans (company here excluded), I also think that fairies live at the bottom of my garden & that Santa delivers to every child in one night.,

The worse part-if you & I had the moola even we would have been tempted! Gorgeous. Maybe Chalet can get us some at a discount!
