Keep those cars coming boys. And send in a SWAT team. We got an uppity 150lb 60yo elitist Nigra here who needs an attitude adjustment. The nerve of this guy! He didn't kiss my shanty paddy a$$ after I pounded on his door and demanded he come outside and show me some ID.
Don't forget, Gates walks with a cane. He could have been using it as
    a weapon!

^^If he had raised it they would have beat him down. And there are people out there who would have defended the beating, kind of like when the cop pepper sprayed that ornery old bat in Texas a few months ago.

Isn't that sweet. Drag the minority cops out to back up Crowley as if he's Mister Innocent, when his own police report showed that he 'acted stupidly.'

Actually, I heard the 911 tape and the woman said there were 2 guys, one she thought hispanic and the other she couldn't determine ethnicity. She did not say anything about the person being black. Also, after Gates gave the cop his license and Harvard ID, the cop then called Harvard....what's that about?

To see if he was a real Professor there, or if he made the ID in the back of his crack den..

But the problem is she saw two men of color and automatically called the cops, despite seeing that they had luggage. She said she wasn't sure if they lived or worked there. She could've spared everyone a lot of grief had she waited a few more seconds and she would've seen that one man lived there and the other man was the driver. And the fact that she didn't live in the neighborhood makes it even worse.

Of course everyone involved in this situation screwed up, the woman, Gates, Crowley and Obama. If there's one silver lining to Obama putting his foot in his damn mouth with the 'acted stupidly' comment it might be that he inadvertently diffused the situation with Gates & Crowley with the meeting at the W.H.

The whole meeting at the White House sounds stupid and insulting to both sides to me. The professor will probably insult the cop's mama again as for the cop, he sounds like a real piece of work and his shitty ass behaviour should have gotten him a reprimand, not beers with the Prez. Obama is such a joke...

Oh, my, didn't know the Beer Summit had already taken place, sorry. I understand no one called anyone's mother any names after all, how boring. Though if anyone said anything about Mama Biden I would have to fly to the US personally and kick some ass.

I still think it's stupid and no way to react to the situation but if this Reality TV Presidency works for you...

Let's see what Obama does next time he puts his foot in his mouth...

Both men got to sit down and talk to each other without dragging the matter out in court. Which is where this case was definitely heading. Plus, Gates & Crowley agreed to have another meeting of their own in private. How can anything that keeps an already heated racial situation from ratcheting up be stupid & insulting?

What I couldn't get was why everyone kept focusing on the beer as the 'teachable moment' that Obama was talking about. The 'teachable moment' was the situation and everyone's reactions to it.

Biden had to be there. It gave it a balance of two white men & two black men. If it had just been Obama, Gates and Crowley, the right-wing would've been complaining about 'the angry black men ganging up on poor Sgt. Crowley.'

The smartest move was giving Biden a non-alcoholic beer. I hate to imagine the kind of things a drunk Biden would've say.

What an excellent analysis of the situation. Did you hear that on Lou Dobbs?

Like most presidents have been, Obama's aware of the media and setting up an image. One stupid photo op is blasted around the world and possibly the history books. How ridiculous, but the picture is worth a thousand words, etc., and encapsulates the story. This was orchestrated just like any other, but unlike lying to a bunch of soldiers under a 'mission accomplished' banner with his crotch in a sling, Obama decided to use this image toward peace and harmony (oops, did someone just say 'socialist'??) They also staggered the men's skin color around a round table, too, so they weren't 'segregated' on sides. Maybe they didn't want to invite the woman 911 caller because she would have thrown off the visual balance and invoked scary Latina Sotomayor!

Do you listen to the Schnitt show? I like what the lady said about Obama. "He should have said he supports his friend but he didnt know all the facts". Instead he said they acted stuipidly, without him knowing the facts.

Oh, the irony of not knowing all the facts.

    Transcript: Obama's Fifth News Conference
    http://www.nytimes.com/2009/07/22/us...&pagewanted=12

Q: Thank you, Mr. President. Recently, Professor Henry Louis Gates, Jr. was arrested at his home in Cambridge. What does that incident say to you? And what does it say about race relations in America?

PRESIDENT OBAMA: Well, I -- I should say at the outset that Skip Gates is a friend, so I may be a little biased here.
I don't know all the facts...
