that's what a lot of people said made them vote for bush and look how well that turned out.

i don't think a bad suit is indicative of how in touch someone is with so-called 'normal' people. just like speaking like an idiot (w bush) isn't either.
    obama's dressed better before too.

I'd rather have someone who knew a thing or two about politics, and the well being of the country, thanks. Oh, and someone who knew how to talk.

Exactly. And someone who didn't divide the country into the pro-America and anti-America parts.

Am I wrong, or is are the inauguration festivities paid for by donations? It's not like it was forced upon taxpayers to cover the bill, and not like there was some bail out plan to pay for it.

On the below website, you can even type in a zip code, or city and find out who has donated $$ for the Inauguration festivities.

From Home - San Jose Mercury News

U.S. President Barack Obama's Inauguration committee has disclosed the names of donors who gave more than $200, the amount they donated, employer and city and zip code.

Obama's committee set a $50,000 maximum and, as in his presidential campaign, he has banned contributions from corporations, political action committees, registered lobbyists, foreigners and registered foreign agents.

i don't have anything against the 150 million festivities (well, except their lame choice of singers) or even sarah palin's 150K shopping spree. i was pointing out the ridiculousness of thinking the president of the US is in touch with the common man based on a crappy suit.

i'm not talking about obama's politics here. i'm just attacking the na´vetÚ of some people who vote according to what they perceive as a candidate's 'normalcy' or whoever they think is most like the 'common man'. IMO that's how populists get in and let's face it, obama might have been born middle class but he's way more educated and lives a life way different to that of the 'common' man. and it's misguided to think otherwise. or to think a bad suit is a sign of how in touch he is with the common man.

    LMAO!

Go watch Bill Maher's "I'm Swiss". There's a part where he talks about that. I can't remember when, but its worth watching the whole thing anyway.

Yeah, I saw that one already. I watch Bill Maher religiously. Can't wait for the new season of his show to start.
