Well i ain't buying what he's selling. I'm voting for Keifer Sutherland's character Jack Bauer because he's indestructable, he never needs to sleep or eat, and he always gets the job done.

It would appear that Mayor Mike Bloomberg agrees with McCain:

Bloomberg agrees with McCain: Economy 'fundamentally...strong'

I just now asked the New York mayor, a former Wall Street hand who's been in the mix in the current crisis, whether he agrees with McCain that the fundamentals of the American economy are strong.

"I do agree that fundamentally America has an economy that is strong," he said. "America’s great strength is its diversity, its hard work, its good financial statements, its broad capital markets, its enormous natural resources" and its work ethic, he said at an afternoon press conference devoted to reassuring New Yorkers that the city's finances and its economy are intact.

"I'd rather play America's hand than any other country," he said. "Without problems? No."

One thing Obama would and could do as President is approve raising taxes on the small upper crust percent, the extremely wealthy, which would increase federal revenue, instead of bankrupting the government like Bush and McCain achieve by slashing rich people's taxes.

Meanwhile, Obama's plan would lessen taxes for poor, middle-class, and upper-middle class Americans, making their tax burden easier in what are going to be very difficult times.

If corporations go bankrupt, they can ask the government for bailouts. If the government goes bankrupt.......

Obama, as opposed to John "100 years in Iraq" McCain, will work to get us out of Iraq instead of deeper into it, and end the war which has thus far cost us hundreds of billions of dollars.

One of the things he wants to do is payroll taxes for Social Security for ALL earnings. They only tax up to a certain point right now. That's not fair. That would really help pay for the baby boomers.

Whenever you hear a talking point about reducing government, it has nothing to do with the average, usually struggling citizen, it is about letting corporations go unchecked so they can get larger and richer.
It's the "smaller government" mantra that's got us into this mess. The SEC wasn't properly funded or staffed to regulate everything they need to do. I wish more people would realize this given that the responsibility the SEC (and many other government regulatory agencies) has is HUGE.

"Smaller government" is also code for letting the foxes run the chicken coop.

    ^^ And???

He's raising money for his campaign. Ya know, just like McCain, except for Obama hasn't been on a never-ending tour of fundraisers and hotel ballroom luncheons throughout his entire campaign like McCain has.

Wrong. A gala is being hosted in his honor to raise money for his campaign. Pull your head out of the sand and realize McCain is doing the same. They local Republican hosted a dinner here for him last week that was almost as high priced and kept very private so no one would know which wealthy Philadelphians were backing him.

That's what you do when you're trying to raise money for a campaign. It's not like working class people are attending, but RICH celebrities.

Well I'm not going to it so I can't say personally, but the article does say he's "hosting".

Just find it odd that he comments on how bad the economy is for everyone and then racks up $28,500.00 a plate for what? Of course Hollywood is going to fork it out for him. He's their rock star.
According to my day planner, I don't give a f^ck.
