"With all of the important issues facing the country right now, it's remarkable that we're spending time talking about pantsuits and blouses," said spokesperson Tracey Schmitt.
NOW the McCain campaign wants to talk about issues? NOW? Yeah, that's not convenient or anything. Or do they just mean Ayers and ACORN issues?

No wonder she's so worried about Obama "spreading the wealth" I mean, his plans might put her clothing allowance in peril and make it possible that it's spread to someone else before she even gets the chance to wear the outfits.

    Great thread title, BTW.

I wonder how much morgue make-up this cosmetics person has to cake on Mccain to make him look alive or seemingly normal.

To be fair, I think Piper may be carrying her mom's bag. Most kids want small Vuitton bags.

I think we all know it doesn't cost this much to look good. The candidates for president and VP are under scrutiny and should have a good wardrobe and makeup, but the amount spent here is outrageous! It shows a complete disconnection from the reality most Americans are living in.

It also shows arrogance, since they blatantly spent campaign funds on this rather than finding a way to do it privately.

And it tells us that they know Sarah Palin's appeal is all about appearance. That money couldn't buy anything of substance where she's concerned. (Well, actually, it could've bought her a really good college education if she could've gotten accepted anywhere decent, but they probably figured they don't have time. If they were running her for VP and promised that for the four years she would be getting a real education and just sitting things out, I think some people would be more likely to vote for her than at present.)

Ruh roh. Selling counterfeit bags is illegal. Many industry and governmental leaders will also say that buying counterfeit supports terrorism!

Fakes -- fake handbags -- counterfeit fashion

    What's the harm?
Why buying counterfeits are a bad idea

According to the International AntiCounterfeiting Coalition (IACC) about 18% of the $98 million of counterfeit products seized by U.S. Customs in '02 were made up of fashion-related items: apparel, sunglasses, watches, handbags and headwear.
While it's not a crime to buy counterfeit merchandise (only to sell it), there are legitimate reasons why you should rethink your buying tactics according to the IACC:
    1. Counterfeiting robs the U.S. alone of more than $200 billion a year. It's a cash, tax-free business; legitimate citizens like yourself will still get stuck paying taxes, while counterfeiters line their pockets at your expense.
    2. Terrorists, gangs and organized crime syndicates all profit from selling counterfeit merchandise. Sometimes designer handbag knockoffs are lined with drugs and used for smuggling things like heroin, too. There is also evidence that the bombing of the World Trade Center in '93 was funded by the sale of counterfeit apparel.
    3. You might realize that things like knockoff toys or electronics are an unsafe idea, but did you know that even items such as fake sunglasses can hurt you. According to IACC counterfeit sunglasses can shatter easily; they may fail to provide UV protection as advertised.

Little hijack here - what does "non tannable trim" mean? I always buy my bags (not LV, but Dooney and Coach) from department stores or online from the retailer, but have thought about buying from Ebay. But I don't know how I'd spot a fake. Please teach me!!!

you really have to be careful on Ebay with handbags, always use someone with tons of good feedback.

on a real LV bag, all the leather trims will get darker from contact with the oils in your skin, turning a saddle-ish color. On the fakes they stay new looking. Also, on a real LV the monogram LV's (on the coated canvas) will never hit a seam on the bag. The monogram pattern will be symmetrical all over the bag. And if the monogram LV's are upright on all sides, it's a good clue that it's fake as well.

Metal rings on all bags are another good way to tell, on real bags the rings are solid and closed all around, on fakes there will often be breaks in the rings.

after years of trawling the internetz for purses, this is my advice: there are a LOT of fakes on ebay. only buy bags there that are by brands you are familiar with. knowing what a real one looks like goes a long way in spotting fakes. there's also a web site (i can't remember the url but google should be able to help you) that lists reputable ebay purse sellers by brand. also, only buy from sellers with excellent feedback, and only if they provide detailed pictures (and make sure the pics are real and don't have watermarks or labels from other websites on them) and have a return policy where they will give you your money back if you aren't convinced of the authenticity.
