Default Alaskan House approves resolution to take money Sarah Palin rejected

One day after a war of words between Sarah Palin and the state’s Republican Senate President over her grandstanding refusal of a portion of Alaska's stimulus money, the state's legislature weighed in:

"By a vote of 32-3, the House approved a resolution Friday accepting any money that Gov. Sarah Palin does not request from the state's estimated $930 million share.

Lawmakers say the measure would give them time to review the different categories of funds and determine if they are in the best interests of the state.

A similar resolution is awaiting action in the Senate."

Obviously Alaskan lawmakers aren't willing to subsidize Palin's political aspirations.

This is Palin's biggest step of making herself un-electable in Alaska. I'd heard she's dropped 5 percentage points in her approval ratings just in the past 10 days over this.

And she'd dropped about 20 points since August, I think. I think she'd have trouble being elected as dogcatcher in Alaska in two years, especially since people won't be getting their extra-big checks any more. The rest of America is still stupid enough to elect her, though. Fortunately, she'll be savaged in the Republican pre-primary debates.

Doubt it. She only appeals to her cult following. (If she can't make it through the primaries, how the hell would "the rest of America" vote for her?)

I meant that if she was selected to run as President, she might get a good chunk of lower-49 votes. There are a lot of people out there who have no idea what kind of hi-jinks she pulls in Alaska. When they're reported on, they say it's all lies put out by "the MSM".

I think Romney and the other contenders with brains/money will slam her in the debates before it gets to that point.

You're forgetting that everyone outside of Alaska saw her interview with Katie Couric and well-remembered SNL send-up with Tina Fey. And as if she won't have more spectacular gaffes coming in the future. Besides, when you can't get re-elected in your home state, most people are going to take that as a sign of damaged goods.

My "favorite" is still Palin standing in front of those turkeys having their throats slit at Thanksgiving. Priceless. Ignorant - and priceless.

No, a lot of people thought Katie Couric treated Palin terribly. It was all a set-up; she was asked questions others weren't asked; she was clearly out to get her ("gotcha").

Obviously, I don't agree with them, but there are those out there who firmly believe it all.

I think it's best to treat and think of her as a dangerous animal who would destroy our country if given the chance. I imagine her as a crazed, rabid dog. No ability to think clearly, and trying to kill everything in her path.

But the people you describe who believe in Palin's eternal victim status are her lunatic fringe, not the general public. If she committed a felony, such as murder, on camera, they'd still believe in her and complain that she was set up even if a thousand people testified against it.

I'm just saying that the lunatic fringe might be longer than we think. There's lots o' crazies out there.

I have a family member who is a total wingnut. He has networks of other wingnuts he e-mails every day. He gets Ann Coulter's columns over e-mail and wanted to move to Costa Rica if Obama won. He is well educated, but has lost his mind since he started listening to Limpballs on the radio after he retired. There are many, many others out there.

Sounds like my dad. We used to be able to talk politics like rational people. Once he started listening to Limbaugh, he has became a ditto-head asshat - loud, angry, and won't hear any criticism of the Repubs and makes racist, sexist remarks in the interest of "setting things straight."

That is NOT the way he raised us. There is something very evil about Limbaugh, Coulter, OReilly.

I don't think you have to worry about Palin. She pretty much sank McCain's campaign, despite the support of the Palin Nation. Plus, Tina Fey's impersonations of Palin have pretty much cemented her as a national joke, so nobody outside of her supporters takes her seriously.

But with that said, I still want her to run for president in 2012. I want to see a Obama/Palin debate.
