Elizabeth Edwards Spills

According to the publicist of Elizabeth Edwards, Elizabeth is going to tell all in her new book. Tell all in this case being about the affair of her jerk husband John Edwards and how Elizabeth reacted to the news which apparently she discovered at the same time as the rest of the world. It is one thing to catch your husband actually in bed with another woman and to have it be a fairly close circle of people who know about it and quite another to read about it on the front page of the National Enquirer when you are waiting to see your oncologist. OK, it probably didn't happen quite like that but she did find out from the news rather than from her husband, so that sucks.

The book is a followup to her very successful first memoir. This one is much more brief and only addresses issues that have happened since the last book. Obviously a good deal of that is probably her reaction to the affair.

There is an embargo on the contents of the book which means no one is going to be seeing any excerpts from it until after it comes out on May 12th. I don't know if that is because there is so much good stuff that they want to spring it all at once or if she really doesn't spill a bunch and so there are no juicy excerpts to publish in advance.

The very interesting thing is if she decides to go on a tour to promote sales of the book. I mean this is going to be the first two questions at every interview.

Interviewer - "Mrs. Edwards how are you feeling and what is the state of your health?"
Elizabeth - stock answer

Interviewer -"Is the love child of Rielle Hunter's actually your husband's baby?"

If you haven't been keeping up with Rielle and who really has actually? I mean with Britney going on tour and everything how can we possibly keep up with Rielle? Well, she still has not revealed who the father is and the birth certificate is still blank. John Edwards still sees her twice a month which is probably fun for Elizabeth. Oh, and Rielle is staying with different friends and family members for now. She has not sold her story yet. The operative word being yet.

The thing is that Elizabeth can't probably answer the question of whether the child is her husband's. I'm sure she knows, but if she says yes, than Edwards is really going to look like more of a prick then before because he hasn't acknowledged the child is his and also hasn't been supporting the kid. Not that being a deadbeat dad is really going to make him look much worse than cheating on his cancer suffering wife while running for President.

I will definitely read this one.

1. Why is she still with this fuckwad?
2. Why is she writing this book?

If she's staying with him for the sake of the kids, writing the book so that they can read all about daddy's affair when they grow up is counter-productive.

If the purpose of the book is to make her look good, well, it's not going to. It's going to make her look stupid.

Why she hasn't already twisted his balls off with a garroting wire or given him a lobotomy through the nose with an escargot fork is beyond me.

I've seen her in interviews and she comes across as a very thoughtful and intelligent woman so I'm going to wager that she is going to explain her reasoning as to why she stayed with him. Me, well, I think she had to do what was right for her and that appears to be staying with him. They have a long history together and one affair, at a time of great distress in their lives, isn't necessarily going to break the marriage up.

I intend to read it and I think it a bit harsh to criticise her before even reading it. They may have entered some platonic agreement. Her case,with death looming over her head,might be completely different from an ordinary wife with with small children. She seems to be doing what is best for her and screw what everyone else thinks. She is very bright and possibly wants as much money locked up in her children's name as she can-before you-know-who tries to grab the rest. It should also make Bozo squirm-a fact that hardly escapes her.

I don't think she'll make him squirm. She's too intelligent and graceful to take such a cheap path. I think she loves him, he loves her and he made one big huge fucking mistake but they have somehow sorted it out. People make mistakes and it's unfortunate that this had to be played out in public.

I'm sorry if I sounded so harsh. I have always admired her. If she chooses to stay with him, I don't feel like she owes anyone an explanation for that. Marriage is a strange thing and I don't think anyone can really understand someone else's marriage (much less their own).

It bothers me that he is seeing that Rielle woman and baby twice a month and hasn't admitted that the baby is his.

Well, who knows, perhaps Eliz is going to reveal in her book that the baby is his and she is supportive of him staying in touch and being a father to his child, no matter how painful it is to her.

I wish her the best of health and a happy life.

??Butt! To write about his most public disgrace and he won't squirm?? Maybe cheap,but he deserves it all.

I agree with you I think they do love eachother and that it is terrible this had to be in the public, I would like to know if he is the father just because I am nibby.

I think also part of her reason could have been the fact the lady has cancer. They still have young children and last I heard she was not expected to beat this. So what was she supposed to do? Put her children through a divorce and then her possible death? She is too much of a caring classy person to do that to anyone let alone her own children.

I'm conflicted on this one...

To write about the affair and the end of the campaign (I'm assuming, since that is new since the last book too)....and to not have it affect any future goals he may have in politics (which are nill currently).....I guess I don't see the point in it. Though, his political career is all but dead for the immediate future....but who knows, he could possibly attempt a resurrection in a few years, when the dust has settled. It's possible.

I cannot imagine she is doing this for the money...

Yet I can see that she may WANT to tell her side, because honestly, what does she have to lose at this point?? Not much....

She seems like a good and decent woman, I feel very sad for her having to deal w/all of this at once. Good luck Elizabeth!

What I meant was that I don't think she'll go out of her way to make him look bad. I think she'll be honest about her hurt and his actions but I don't think she'll stoop to petty bitching. I have always liked this woman's personality, at least as it came across in public, and I think sometimes people do stupid things out of pain, particularly men. I don't think he's the devil for what he did, just a dumb man who needed comfort and took it where he could find it. I'll probably read this book. Has anyone read the last one?

Got it! Yes-odds are great we are not going to hear all of it, but I will read it. She seems just great to me and I hate that this happened to her.

Back in the day, before she changed her name to Reille Hunter, the other woman was Lisa Druck whose family was part of the whole Kill the Horses for Insurance $ scandal. They electrocuted her very fancy jumper 'Henry the Hawk' for the insurance. Not nice people. I say go to it Elizabeth.
