Sarah Palin blasts press reports on Bristol's baby-daddy's job

(CNN) – Levi Johnston, the father of Sarah Palin's grandchild Tripp and fiance of daughter Bristol, quit his job earlier this week after reports that his lack of a high school diploma made him ineligible for the apprentice position he'd held since fall.
Johnston's father Keith told the Anchorage Daily News that his son felt the move was "the best thing to do to kind of calm the waters, so to speak," and that his son's missing educational qualification was "just something that slipped through the cracks."
"You guys are watching him so tightly," Johnston told the paper. "He's being treated different than an average 18-year-old kid. He has to do everything by the book now."
Palin herself called the report a "a political potshot taken at me," that could "destroy a young man's opportunity for work."

Maybe if Palin hadn't decided to use Levi as a political pawn then he wouldn't have so much focus on him. But, naturally, that's not her fault. It's the liberal, gotcha media's fault.

yeah, that's *exactly* the way that i took that statement.

i'm not feeling much sympathy for levi...he's a young, able-bodied man. he can work just as hard as anybody else has to to get that same job.

I guess I'm not the only one who picked up on the 'by the book' comment. Tell the kid to get a diploma and then he can get the job, just like anyone else.

Slipped through the cracks?

Everything, school, jobs, random applications, ask for your education. List your education. The only way that "little" tidbit could slip through the cracks is if they greased it up like a pig and shoved it through so it could get at the trough first.

Imagine...an 18 year old is expected to NOT fuck up. How unbelievably cruel. I guess he deserves an extra 300 grand compensation for that.

Oh please. The hickboy bangs the guvs daughter, knocks her up, gets a 6 figure payout for the first pics of said baby, gets a job he isn't qualified to do simply because he's too bloody lazy to finish school...are we supposed to feel anything but contempt for this non-entity? Hell, I have more respect for his mamma. At least she works hard for what she's got.

I think he dropped out of high school after hockey season ended. That's all he was there for. Was too stupid to stick it out two more months to get a degree. I guess he never thought he'd need it.

i wasnt saying he deserves it, but saying he isnt the first (no matter what party) who got a job cause of the connection to a person.

Yeah, wasn't she the first person to bring up in the press that he had the job? So it was alright if she is the one pimping the information, but no one else can say anything about it?
