Has media coverage of Sarah Palin been fair?
Has media coverage of Palin been fair?

From David Hulen in Anchorage --
A new national poll from the Pew Research Center for the People & The Press suggests voters think the answer is no.
Strong majorities of the public say the press has been fair to John McCain, Barack Obama and Joe Biden. But fewer than four-in-ten (38%) say the press has been fair to Sarah Palin. Many more believe the press has been too tough on Palin (38%) than say it has been too easy (21%).
While opinions about Palin coverage are highly partisan, many independents share the view that the press has been too tough on the Alaska governor. Among independents, 41% say the press has been too hard on Palin, 20% say the press has been too easy and 36% say the press has been fair. Republicans overwhelmingly believe the press has been too hard on Palin (63%). Just 7% say the press has been too easy on her. Nearly one-in-five Democrats (18%) agree that coverage of Palin has been too tough.
Republicans are not as critical of press coverage of McCain. About half (48%) say the press has been fair to the Arizona senator, while 44% say the press has been too tough and 6% say too easy. Among the general public, six-in-ten say coverage of McCain has been fair.
The polls found Americans are glued to coverage of the campaign.
About a month before Election Day, interest in campaign news is higher now than it has been in previous years in the final days before the election. Among registered voters, 61% say they are following campaign news very closely.

The only reason people say they've been too hard, the only reason, is that they brought her daughter into it and her downs syndrome child.

This is a tough call, because her platform is so retrogressive that issues that seem personal are in fact very relevant because her stance is so retrogressive, she's proven herself to be a complete hypocrite and her personal ethics code is unworkable, not to mention unsuccessful, in reality.
Either women's issues matter, or they don't. If someone is saying to me that they don't, to me that says to me that I'm not fully recognized as a citizen of this country and that reproductive rights don't 'count' because women, who bear children, don't count. That is unacceptable to me. When people say these issues are 'personal' to me that is just code for 'second-class citizen issues'.
People seem to forget these are more than just her personal views. This is the standard of conduct she wants to enforce on the entire country, and in that respect it is anything but private. That puts me in the sector that thinks the press has been way, way too easy on her.
Let's run a poll on H Clinton and ask the same questions and see what the results are. I'm sure the answers would be interesting. I 'betcha' few would say the press is too hard on her, despite her being crucified almost daily by the right for the last 15 years and Limbaugh calling Chelsea a 'dog' when she was like twelve and things of that nature. Clinton never whined, or had proxy whiners like Poor wittle (witless) Palin does.

haha, the people who think the media are too hard are probably the same people who, when in school, though a teacher was "too hard' if they didn't give out the test questions and answers in advance.

The press has not been fair to Palin. They have coddled her while the two men and the geriatric have taken the full force of the scrutiny and interrogations.
Palin is weak.

This woman is so beyond ridiculous.
She wants to run for VP but hides from the media. Then when she does talk to them, her stupidity and ignorance are completely evident and then she runs away upset because that is not the light she wants to be shown in.
So much for empowering women.
Palin, you are way over your head and not fooling anyone.
SIT DOWN you stupid hag.

^^^ amen...
I've also never heard anyone talk about a vp nom like she does. It seems with each passing day she's losing touch with the fact that the vp is pretty much a proxy. Megalomaniac without a brain.

They keep asking her gotcha questions like what newspapers does she read to get her information from. PURE MEDIA BIAS! (despite the fact that they ask Biden the same thing...)

someone needs to rework "Poor poor pitiful me" by Linda Ronstadt into a song for Palin, she whines so much about this stuff.

1. Probably seems worse than it is because coverage has been funneled into such a short time period, because she came out of nowhere (sorry, Alaskans). Spread out over several months, it would not have been so intense.
2. Coverage is probably excessive, though I despise her so much I cannot be objective.
3. She gets a pass by conservative outfits mostly, and maybe gets worse than she deserves from liberals.
But then again...Maybe she deserves it because she sucks! Maybe she is a lying sack of shit bee-yotch Mooselini!
Maybe it's because she has no respect for her betters!
Maybe because she acts like Tracey f___ing Flick but she is not smart enough to have watched and understood that movie.
Maybe...Oh, there I go again.

My opinion is that since Palin is not a candidate with substance, all she is--and ever was meant to be by the McCain people--is a media shitstorm.
Shitstorms are rarely fair. Oh, well.

The media has bent over backwards with respect to Palin. They've been far too easy on her.

Something tells me Palin is crying in the corner because someone said bad words about her, and is now claiming to be treated unfairly by the media.
