Default Sarah Palin's plan for tonight's debate

ST. LOUIS — Sarah Palin plans to go on the attack in tonight’s debate, hitting Joe Biden for what she will call his foreign policy blunders and penchant for adopting liberal positions on taxes and other issues, according to campaign officials involved in prepping her for tonight’s showdown.

The Palin camp is projecting surprising self-confidence in the pre-debate hours, despite the vice presidential nominee’s uneven — and, at some points, peculiar — performances in recent television interviews, the officials say.

Top advisers to John McCain privately say Palin’s recent CBS interview was a borderline disaster, especially since it played out in several segments over several days. Tonight will be different, they say.

“This is going to finally put her back into a position where we see her like we saw her the first couple weeks,” a McCain official said. “She was herself. She was authentic, and people related to that. ... Tonight, she’ll get into a rhythm. You’re going to see her in a way that you haven’t seen her yet.”

By contrast, Biden plans what an aide calls "a just-the-facts, prosecutorial approach laying out the case against McCain and defending Obama." The aide said Biden will be "keeping the eye on the target, which is McCain."

It is hard to imagine higher stakes for a vice presidential nominee on the national stage. Palin wowed even her biggest skeptics with her spirited introduction to the American people at the Republican National Convention last month. It’s been downhill since then, however. She has been largely sheltered from unscripted moments on the campaign trail. And, when she has exposed herself to improvisation or tough questioning, Palin has been criticized for offering vague and at times unusual responses.

Palin advisers say that she remains just as popular with much of the Republican base as she was a month ago when her convention speech was hailed as a home run. But her ratings have eroded in polls since then, and the advisers see the 90-minute debate at 9 p.m. Eastern as a chance for a swift turnaround from what they call “negativity” in her news coverage.

Again, he needs to keep her on the defensive.
We all know she can't explain anything without losing herself in a blunder of words that are totally off topic.
Then she won't have time to mock him over his age and other things that are completely irrelevant.

She doesn't have a chance. I don't want to sound "elitist" but Obama is probably helping to coach Biden, and they both have law degrees from highly respected universities, and she has a journalism degree from Podunk U. McCain has no law training either, he's just a military man through and through (and was at the bottom of his class). Obama and Biden have got it all over them with education and training.

Now that I think about it, I have figured out why all the uneducated Joes and Joanns out there are pulling so hard for McCain/Palin and are so against Obama. It reflects their own insecurities of well-educated people; the old book smart vs. street smart conflict. There are people out there that are hoping that street smarts trump book smarts.

But there are people who are both and I think Obama has it and so does Biden. Both of them are not from elite families unlike Bush or even McCain.

Palin on the other hand is the perfect example of being cunning but incurious and thinks being ignorant of things that goes beyond her beliefs or religion are good attributes.

Yes, there are people who have both but ignorant people will never admit that a well-educated person can be both.

Seriously, after the katie couric debacle she BETTER have her shit together. If not, she doesn't deserve to and shouldn't be our next VP. We've had enough of this moron shit already.

That pretty much sums it up! Anyone can rant and yell. The question is will she be saying anything useful? Hell no!

She'll probably just make another snarky comment about his age, forgetting that she's campaigning with Grampa Munster.

Yeah, and she likes to represent herself as youth and new blood, forgetting that Obama is her age.

Palin forgets quite a lot. At least she and the Crypt Keeper have senility in common. I love to see bonding between the generations.

If Biden is "old", McCain is prehistoric. I can't wait to witness one of the most epic failures in history.
