Red face Sarah Palin's on the job, ya'll - been studying since SUNDAY

Sarah Palin gives her first big speech tonight. She's been practicing for days and will be reading from a teleprompter. It's already clear she knows how to give a speech. The pundits will ooh and aah, but the question isn't whether she can read a speech before a crowd of adoring GOPers. As Rob notes below, the GOP's expectation is that she'll "hit it out of the ballpark."

Palin will have the style. That's a GOP hallmark, plus she started her career reading copy for a t.v. station. This isn't new for her.

Besides the scandals engulfing Palin, the real question is the substance.

The McCain campaign has leaked word that Sarah Palin is on top of all the issues that affect America -- because she has been studying since Sunday.

    Don't you feel better now?

Said it before (many times) and I'll say it again: This decision is about John McCain. He's got a running mate who has to go to school. McCain made a rash, reckless decision -- and the rest of the country would suffer for it.

Does anyone really expect that Sarah Palin wrote the speech she will give tonight? Some political strategist with a degree in wordsmithing has written something absolutely fucking angelic and she will deliver it like the former beauty queen turned newsanchor she is. It will go over and the GOP folks will eat it up.

Of course she didn't. No politician does. I'm still not convinced she'll do that well.. but then again she could save my dog from a burning house and I still wouldn't be impressed.

^My fear is that there are more "stupid" in this country than there are "sane" people.

The real test is when she has to face bubble outside RNC and the upcoming debate.

It is scary. There are acquaintances of mine that I have totally lost respect for now because they LOVE Sarah Palin and think she's a great choice. When I try to tell them how inexperienced she is, they harp on and on about her "executive experience" I can hardly contain myself. I just want to smack the shit eating dumbass grins off their faces. How can people be so stupid as to think that this woman is qualified to be the backup president?

I can only pray that her complete and utter cluelessness about national foreign policy and economic issues makes her look like a complete dumbass.

Our local newspaper here in town has a comment section and it is filled with people praising Sarah Palin and with sincerely stating that she has more experience than Obama. They believe this. They really do. Nothing anyone else can say will change that.

I know! It's the same around here (in NC). Holy shit! It's like the McCain camp unleashed a stupidity virus that's turned everyone into robots spouting GOP soundbites. "She's in charge of the Alaska National Guard! She's got executive experience! She's a real go-getter!" Ad nauseum. When I point out that Alaska has a population of less than our county, and that Wasilla was basically Mayberry, that Alaska has no transportation or economic issues even close to other states (like maybe, uh, Illinois?), it's like their eyes glaze over and they don't even hear me. Hence the overwhelming desire to slap the shit out of them.

CNN got hold of some of the extracts of her speech- shes going to bash Obama over his 'experience'

Contrasting her resume with that of the Democratic presidential nominee, she says: "I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a 'community organizer,' except that you have actual responsibilities."
Obama worked as a community organizer in Chicago in the 1980s before attending Harvard Law School. Palin was a two-term mayor of the town of Wasilla, Alaska, a small town of about 5,000 people.
She also contrasts Republican presidential candidate John McCain with Obama.
"In politics, there are some candidates who use change to promote their careers. And then there are those, like John McCain, who use their careers to promote change," she says.
Palin is a first-term governor of Alaska whose selection as McCain's running mate last week caught many seasoned political observers by surprise. Her convention speech will be the first time she has addressed a national prime time audience as a member of the Republican ticket. Watch more on Palin's political history
She directly addresses the skepticism some have expressed about her qualifications for the office, taking particular aim at the press.
"I've learned quickly, these past few days, that if you're not a member in good standing of the Washington elite, then some in the media consider a candidate unqualified for that reason alone," she says.
"But here's a little news flash for all those reporters and commentators: I'm not going to Washington to seek their good opinion -- I'm going to Washington to serve the people of this country."

The Alaska governor has spent most of the past 48 hours working in a hotel room with speechwriter Matt Scully and adviser Nicolle Wallace. On Tuesday, they worked nonstop from 11 a.m. until 1 a.m. She also did a read-through with the prompter at 10 p.m. -- exactly 24 hours before the real speech, the aides said.
The Republican vice presidential candidate will continue practicing and tweaking all day, working up until the minute before she leaves for the convention hall.
Palin has been educating Scully and Wallace on her experience and record as they have been helping her put the message into words. The governor has been "co-writing" with Scully, according to a source involved in the process.
Palin also took an early Wednesday morning tour of the podium at the Republican National Convention -- some 15 hours before she'll return to the stage to give what can be considered the most important speech of her life.
The Alaska governor walked through the nearly empty Xcel Energy Center in downtown St. Paul, Minnesota -- site of the Republican convention, spending about 10 minutes checking out the podium, where she'll give her prime time nomination acceptance speech.
Palin told reporters she feels "great" and, as she walked off stage, answered a shouted question about the speech, saying, "I'm excited to speak to Americans. This will be good. It's about reform."
There is also a rumour that the speech was written way before McCain chose his VP.
