WASHINGTON - Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain has chosen Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate, NBC News has learned.

She would be the first woman ever to serve on a Republican presidential ticket. The pro-life Palin would also be the first Alaskan ever to appear on a national ticket.

Palin, 44, was elected Alaska's first woman governor in 2006. The state’s voters had grown weary of career politician Gov. Frank Murkowski, whom she defeated in the GOP primary.

Not a bad choice, but not THE choice that will put him over the top. I'm satisfied.

Of course when one is to become VP to a 72 year old President,
one DOESN'T need much experience. I mean after all:
McCain is in the bloom of his life, no worries that he'll keel over
any time soon.

Her office is currently under investigation. Nice pick, McCain.

If you believe in social and economic equality for men and women you're a feminist. And maybe he felt she was the best pick for the job.

Personally I thought it was going to be Romney though...

She's got a bad case of bitch-face.

The majority of men who are sexist are R's, and pro-Hilary women won't vote for a pro-life, pro-drilling conservative, so I don't see the gain in picking a female VP.

Obama just won. Even Democrats were afraid to put a woman on the ticket. A hormonal woman one heartbeat away from leading? OH NO!!!!! Speaking of Ono, remember Yoko said many years ago, "Woman is ni**er of the world." It is still painfully true. McCain thinks he just got the evangelical vote because she is obviously so pro-life, but they won't want a woman! They think women should be controlled.

You couldn't be more wrong. Men will love her because she loves guns, loves sports, and is pretty darn good looking. Sure, there will be some sexists who will loathe it. But it isn't any different than racists hating Obama, etc. There will always be those elements in any election.

Sounds like they balanced the Republican ticket--McCain's experience with her inexperience.

They took a play from the DNC playbook. No experience Obama picks an old white guy to make him look better.

See, that game can be played both ways.

Palin's "not much experience" exceeds the executive experience of all three of the others (0bama, Biden, McCain) combined, and she has it in private sector as well as government!

Democrats should not trot out that phrase, it only serves to point out 0bama's deficiencies, not Palin's.

Some of them said they would of voted for McCain before he even had a VP back during the primaries.

This is from AP:
She is a former mayor of Wasilla who became governor of her state in December, 2006 after ousting a governor of her own party in a primary and then dispatching a former governor in the general election.
More recently, she has come under the scrutiny of an investigation by the Republican-controlled legislature into the possibility that she ordered the dismissal of Alaska's public safety commissioner because he would not fire her former brother-in-law as a state trooper.
Maybe he IS senile. Rebublicans get it wrong for Vice-President everytime. Or maybe they misunderstand what "VICE" they mean.
