Well, see...the Mom hasn't popped out babies. They adopted 4 Down Syndrome children from all over the world (like I said, long story). BUT, the fact remains that the Mom needs the help during the day....and the 16 yr old is providing that help, rather than getting her school lessons. It's not until after dinner that she actually goes to 'school'.
What will they do when the 16 yr old, finally figures out that there is a world out there and leaves? Like for college? Or simply wants out?

I wonder if the 16 yr old could answer these questions too.....not so sure.

You'll notice that both are in the bible belt where hoards of people wouldn't mind a Christian theocracy.
I'm not from the bible belt, but it's surprising how many times I've read threads where people imply that Christians are stupid. I wonder what the reaction would be if people started posting messages implying that atheists/Jews/Hindus etc are stupid on a regular basis??

These results are disappointing. I'm not sure which states have a mandatory constitution exam, but hopefully, it's the majority.

Also, some of the people being asked the year that 9/11 happened look like they are teenagers. That means that they were in elementary school when 9/11 happened, so it's not surprising that they are not certain of the year.

Sometimes I really wish the USA would split apart so people in the Bible Belt could no longer depend on the high standards of other states for a strong infrastructure and economy. Let them collapse beneath their ignorance and hate.
How about the hate you have for people based on what fucking region they live in? May you collapse under your own fucking ignorance.

I guess I should have been more specific as to which kind of Christianity then. It's the fundamentalist Christians/Christian Dominionists, or what Andrew Sullivan calls "Christianists," down in the "bible belt." Does the fact that a certain region of the US is called the "bible belt" mean nothing to you? No one says "bible belt" regarding California, Michigan, New York or Nevada. People talk about the Christian Right all the time. Does the "Christian Left" ever make news? No. Like this is a fucking difficult concept.

    either way. i'd report them.
it's fine and dandy to adopt all the down babies you want but don't have your teenage kid miss out on school to help you take care of them.

I agree that the teenager shouldn't be made to help and miss school. Without going super into it, these are extremely religious (gee, shocking) people and have the support of the community because they have adopted a bunch of special needs/unadoptable kids. But no one seems to have remembered the 16 yr old. Once, a mutual friend called the Mom around 10 a.m. and the daughter (who was at that time about 13/14 yrs old) answered the phone. The daughter made all these silly excuses as to why the Mom couldn't come to the phone. The mutual friend finally asked the girl 'your Mom is asleep isn't she?' and the girl said yes. Nice.
And if you saw the press and the accolades this family got, you'd die. They can do no wrong in MOST peoples eyes. But they appear to be failing their biological child in the process. Its insane.

Ok, I'm done...sorry for the OT.

It's clear that these children aren't getting a proper education, and of course we'll call them idiots. I am curious as to if they asked these same questions in inner city schools, how many could answer correctly.

I doubt that kids in NYC, Chicago, Philadelphia, Boston or L.A. would do any better percentage wise. I'd really be interested in a nationwide survey on this.

All of God's children are not beautiful. Most of God's children are, in fact, barely presentable.

    this is really sad.
i could answer all the questions (except the one with the justices) and i'm not even american.

but there are idiots (students & adults) everywhere.
there are reports about germans who were asked the questions from the german citizen test and the results were alarming as well.

What do you expect - this is a thread about students in Oklahoma who don't know constitutional questions and once again, certain posters automatically point the finger at STEWWWWWPID Christians in the bible belt and the STEWWWWWPID south.
