Lightbulb Hillary Clinton has LOST even if Michigan and Florida votes were counted. It's over.

Quote:
Today's Washington Post gets the scoop on what some Clinton insiders are thinking.

First, a top Clinton aide admits now what we've been saying. They lost a long time ago:

"Absent some sort of miracle on May 31st, it's going to be tough for us," said a senior Clinton official who spoke on the condition of anonymity in order to be frank. "We lost this thing in February. We're doing everything we can now... but it's just an uphill battle."

So, they knew they lost in February, but decided to stay in to destroy Obama? Factor in all the money troubles and you have to ask why the Clinton team kept up its negative assault on Obama.

Then this shows just how desperate Hillary had become even before the votes were counted yesterday:

"There are going to be the rest of these contests, which are very significant, and then in June, if we haven't done it already, we're going to have to resolve Florida and Michigan," she told reporters during a daytime event at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. "They were legitimate elections."

Maybe they were legitimate elections in the Soviet Union or Iran, but not in the United States. This is when Hillary sounds like she's lost touch with reality. We learned last night that even if Michigan and Florida are now included - and included as is, meaning you give Hillary her phony victories - it won't change a thing, Obama still wins. NBC political director Chuck Todd, who is one of the most respected political analysts in town, said this last night:

"With leads like this now, if you throw in Michigan and Florida, as is, then Obama would still have about 150,000 votes and he would still have 100 delegates, pledged delegate, lead." - Chuck Todd, 1:13 AM

Hillary's only remaining argument for staying in the race is Florida and Michigan. But even if you give her those two states, she loses. She has no reason for staying in the race other than her desire to hurt the Democratic nominee, Barack Obama.

Then, there's this:

A Clinton adviser said the situation was increasingly becoming one in which "she cannot be nominated and he can't get elected."

Okay, consider the source. The Clinton advisers have been telling us she was going to be the nominee. They were telling us for a year that was inevitable. They butchered her campaign. So, be wary, very wary, of political predictions from any "Clinton adviser." They took a candidate who couldn't lose and turned her into a loser.

Let's wrap this up, listening to the constant spin and carping from Team Clinton is getting really boring -- and it's counterproductive. We need to fight John McCain.

So if it's an IMPOSSIBILITY for her to win, why did she just loan her campaign 6 mil to keep going?

With Hillary out, I think the Dems may ultimately be screwed. I have a bad feeling about how the general election may go.

I watched CNN last night when they did the math. I don't get Hillary, either. I don't get why you would keep going and spending your own money if it's mathematically impossible for you to win.

Maybe I'm an optimist, but I still don't think the Repubs would get elected again. I think a dead person could run against them and get elected.

The only way she can win is if she pulls some dirty trick or back room deal with the superdelegates. If she has something up her sleeve, she'll take it all the way to the convention and try to stage a coup. OTOH, if she continues on without any notion of snatching the superdelegates, then her only purpose is to destroy the Dem nominee so she can run in 2012.

So far today, and despite people calling for her to do so, she is showing no inclination to drop out and is indeed continuing her fund raising.

The superdelegates know it's over.. they're beginning to turn to Obama in increasing numbers. I don't think any of them really believe she has a chance in hell.

Clinton campaign chairman Terry McAuliffe was just on MSNBC saying Hillary will not drop out of the race.

Seriously, wha's her frigging damage? SHE'S LOST. She cannot win. Why continue?

Is the DNC going to tell her to fuck off?

Yes, I saw that but I want to know what the justification is from her deluded team

I actually think McCain will win. If /whenObama gets the nod, he'd better keep Michelle on a short leash because her big mouth is a liability and she doesn't seem like a unifying force at all. I think he will ultimately be chewed up and spit out. General election voters are not the same as primary voters.

McAuliffe didn't have a coherent answer to that question, and it was asked by the anchor. (Norah O'Donnell) There is just no way to put lipstick on this pig.

Grimm, there is no justification. Like I said before, she's polarizing her whole party with her refusal to drop out. She's in this for HERSELF, not for the good of her party. This whole thing has only damaged the clear Democratic front-runner while McCain gets off without a scratch. Its ridiculous, and I was hoping now, at the very least, she would realize this and gracefully bow out. But no, she's going to keep on going because its all about HER. She's even asking for monetary donations - now who in their right mind would give money to a lost cause? I was hoping, hoping, hoping, that Clinton supporters would at least take their blinders off now and realize that she's not in it anymore, and swing their support towards the clear front-runner, but I guess I'm asking for too much. And the whole Michigan/Florida recount thing is just TOO much and I have no idea why she thinks that can happen. The rules were set ahead of time and agreed to, now she wants to change the whole game in the ninth inning because *gasp* she may lose. I don't see why more people aren't offended by that, honestly. Talk about not accepting defeat gracefully.
