Default Hillary Clinton camp denounces Barack Obama co-chair for Lewinsky comments

In media call, spokesmen Howard Wolfson and Phil Singer decry former Iowa Democratic Party chairman and Obama senior adviser Gordon Fischer’s statement invoking “Monica’s blue dress” in blog posting.

They say it shows course Obama campaign is now taking in the race.

Singer: Called it the “most personal attack yet,” said the Obama campaign is being “fueled by insult and slander.” Listen to full audio of call here.

Update: Fischer takes down post, saying: “I sincerely apologize for a tasteless and gratuitous comment I made here about President Clinton. It was unnecessary and wrong.” Read it here.

Wolfson brushes off apology on media call, saying he doesn’t know why he would apologize because it seems to be keeping with the tenor of the Obama campaign.

Obama camp’s Tommy Vietor responds: “As Senator Obama has said repeatedly, comments like this have no place in our political dialogue and he strongly rejects them.”

All of God's children are not beautiful. Most of God's children are, in fact, barely presentable.

If I wanted the government in my womb I'd fuck a Senator

Of course Obama can't control what everyone out there says. That said, his people are in trouble, because little things like that add up to big things in the "when it rains, it pours" media environment.

And I'm so sick of the fact that some people can't get over someone else's extramarital affair, or the fact that Hillary stayed. Newsflash: We weren't married to Bill, it's really none of our business. Seems like those who bring that up just have nothing better to throw at them.
Burt Johnson: I don't drink because drinking affects your decision-making.
Arthur: You may be right. I can't decide.
