Default How much the candidates are spending

It takes Big League bucks to win the White House.
The campaign payouts of presidential candidates rival the highest - and lowest - payrolls of Major League Baseball.
But having Major League moolah is no guarantee a candidate will get into the November Classic.
Democratic front-runner Barack Obama has dropped more money than anyone else chasing the prize - except the Yankees and Red Sox.
Obama tossed more cash at his White House bid over the past 13 months than 28 of the 30 Major League clubs paid for their on-field product last season.
The $115.6 million he's forked over is about $400,000 more than the 2007 Mets, who collapsed and missed the playoffs.
Hillary Clinton's $108 million in campaign payouts mirrors the Chicago White Sox - a colossal disappointment in the standings despite having MLB's fifth-highest payroll.
The crosstown Cubs spent $99 million and failed to win it all again - just like Mitt Romney, who dumped $98 million on his futile White House bid.
John McCain, copying his scrappy hometown Arizona Diamondbacks, is about to score the GOP nomination despite forking over the small-market sum of $50 million.
Rudy Giuliani played with the same pocketbook as the Colorado Rockies. They made it to the World Series. He never made it out of Florida, cancelling his campaign.
Mike Huckabee turned in the best Money Ball performance, spending half of the $24 million the lowly Tampa Bay Devil Rays spent - and getting nearly as many wins.

Campaigns spend Big League money
