... seriously. Who the hell are these people voting for Mitt Romney? He just won Nevada now, and Michigan previously?! How? I dont get it, at all.

Someone please explain the appeal, because I am not seeing it.

Romney unfortunately, and I don't know if this is it, is a relatively good looking guy. He's an asshole who is probably fucking young men, but asthetically he isn't awful to look at. Wonder if those idiots are falling for that shit....

This is the problem with the Republican candidates - the best people can do is choose the Least Worst. Out of all of them I'd say McCain is probably the most 'normal' but I don't think he's got what it takes to become POTUS. Mind you, I thought that about Dubya too.........

See, at least that I can sort of rationalize: Huckabee's getting all the Christian Evangelical Bible-toters, and the good-ole-boy Southerners.

But Mitt Romney is so untrustworthy IMO. I look at him and I feel slimy. And he doesn't even seem to be pursuing any particular target: Huckabee's crowd are skeptical of him because he's a Yankee and a Mormon. The Security Moms and their ilk are behind McCain.

i dont get it. This race is shaping up to be insane.

Voting is mandatory here; a concept I disagree with very strongly as I believe abstention should be part of the democratic process too. If you don't vote They can come after you with a fine, although in practice very few people are. The only other option is to 'spoil' your ballot paper by ticking all the boxes or whatever.

I like the fact that it's mandatory, but they should have to tick the box that says "i refuse to votge for any candidate cuz they all SUCK".

Yes - it shocked me too. I'm not sure why but it could be that when the rules were drawn up the Australian population was comparatively tiny so every vote counted. The fine is very small and, like I say, the electoral commission doesn't go after people like the KGB or anything like that - but that's not the point.

After driving behind a Hummer that had a bumper sticker saying "GOD MADE AMERICA, NOT THE CONSTITUTION", I knew each and every Republican really are theocratic idiots that want the bible to run things for them. Pathetic.
