Karl Rove to quit at end of August

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Karl Rove, U.S. President George W. Bush's senior political adviser,
will voluntarily step down from his White House post at the end of the month, senior
    administration officials said Monday.

Rove, who has held a top position in the White House since Bush took office
in January 2001, is to stand down on August 31.

"I just think it's time," Rove told the Wall Street Journal. "There's always
something that can keep you here, and as much as I'd like to be here,
I've got to do this for the sake of my family."

He told the newspaper that he would leave Washington to return to
Texas and that he had first suggested the idea of leaving a year ago.

However a series of problems for the Bush administration, starting when the
Democrats took control of Congress and then as immigration and the Iraq
war topped the agenda, made Rove stay on.

But the hand of one of President Bush's most trusted advisors was forced
when White House Chief of Staff Joshua Bolten announced that any senior
staff that were working past Labor Day (September 3) would be expected
to stay on until the end of Bush's term in January 2007.

A Bush loyalist to the end Rove, who instrumental in all aspects of the
executive conservative agenda, told the WSJ that he expected the
president's approval ratings to rise and that conditions in Iraq would improve
due to the work of the U.S. military.

Rove also fired a parting shot at the Democrats, adding that he thought
Hillary Clinton - a "tough, tenacious, fatally flawed candidate" - would win
    the 2008 presidential nomination.

Loved by conservatives but a hate figure for many Democrats, Rove said
he expected his rival party to be divided over the wireless wiretapping issue
while the Republicans should come out top in economic issues closer to the
    2008 poll.

sure, turdblossom will quit officially, but he'll still be on the phone with Bush every minute of the day in an unofficial capacity or something.

he's quitting because it gives bush an advantage, thats all. something is up.

Y'know, Rove's been invoking executive privilege to keep his sorry ass from having to testify in the U.S. Attorney scandal - among other things, I'm sure.

I'm all a-twitter to see how he & Bush will flout Congress and the U.S. people this time.

But the hand of one of President Bush's most trusted advisors was forced when White House Chief of Staff Joshua Bolten announced that any senior staff that were working past Labor Day (September 3) would be expected to stay on until the end of Bush's term in January 2007.
Oh, please! This is the funniest and most ridiculous part of the whole thing. Like Rove can't and doesn't do exactly what the hell he wants to in the face of rules that say otherwise!

The guy himself is a walking farce. Hardly ever, EVER, have I seen
a person whose despicable personality and deeds fitted their disgusting
appearance more than in his case.

Trying to save their party. Next is stealing the California vote!

    GOP eyes California's electoral pie

Strategists push a 2008 ballot initiative that would slice up the state's 55 votes for president, based on congressional districts.
By Dan Morain, Times Staff Writer
    August 6, 2007

SACRAMENTO — California GOP strategists, seeking to reshape the electoral map in their party's favor, plan to begin raising money this week for a ballot initiative they hope will help a Republican win the White House in the 2008 election.

As it is, Democrats assume they must win California's electoral votes to win the presidency. California supplies 55 electoral votes, more than 10% of the 538 nationally.

The nascent initiative, aimed at the June 2008 ballot, would change California's winner-take-all system to require that electoral votes be apportioned by congressional district.

Yeah, we should coin a word for breaking up a voting district in order to make it easier for one political party to win!

I know - it just came to me! Let's call it Gerrymandering!
