Default Bush grants reprieve to 2 prisoners.

President Bush has put an end to terrorism well, for two turkeys anyway.
In an act of clemency Guantanamo prisoners can only dream of, Dubya yesterday freed two gobblers from the food chain and sent them off to Disneyland.

The stars of this year's conscience-salving ritual were Marshmallow and Yam, named by the thousands who voted on the White House's Web site.

Bush announced that the birds, raised by James and Vicki Trites of Henning, Minn., would not be going to a petting zoo, as in years past. Instead, they will serve as honorary grand marshals at Disneyland's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

"I know Marshmallow and Yam are going to feel pretty good strutting around sunny California, remembering the cold days of Minnesota," Bush said at a White House ceremony.

    Hee-hee.

The President peered into Marshmallow's eyes and stroked the bird's fluffy white feathers with a tenderness usually reserved for members of the Saudi royal family.

Marshmallow and Yam were due to receive a police escort to the airport, then fly first class to L.A. After the parade, they'll live out their days at a Disneyland ranch.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals hailed the presidential pardon. The estimated 45 million turkeys sentenced to the Thanksgiving chopping block were unavailable for comment.

Meanwhile, Focus on the Family is doing its best to make sure that those of you condemned to spend a day with your relatives don't kill each other.

The faith-based group is handing out 5,000 stress balls during Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

"It's supposed to be the happiest time of the year," says Focus' Steve Watters, "but for a lot of people it's just a reminder that things aren't working out so well in their lives."

Unless your name happens to be Marshmallow or Yam.

He treats turkeys better than he treats poor people. Which Katrina victim did he fly first class anywhere? Oh yes, turkeys, takes one to know one. Guess he thought they might be related.

The president does this every year, it's a tradition.

    1. I love that comment about the Saudi royal family.

    2. I can't believe PETA applauded the 2 turkeys that were granted clemency
while 44,999,998 others continued on the conveyor belt of death.

    3. Focus on the Family has a good point. If holidays are a time of family
gathering, they're also a time of recrimination, bitterness and tension.
Maybe they'll save some family from a meltdown.

Ugh, family at Thanksgiving. You always end up reverting to your original role in the family, which means if you're the youngest, like me, no matter how old you are now, you're still treated like you're 15.

Hmm, wish I could bitch about how my family treats me at Thanksgiving but I haven't celebrated it with them since 2000 because I'm 4,000 miles away. I can't wait to celebrate it with them next year. I feel like I'm in PRISON.
