Is racism creeping back into US society?

I got to thinking about this subject after reading the article about the black kids being orderd to go to the back of the bus. Here are sone racial things that have happen that I've heard about:
1.The situation I just mentioned where 9 black students were put in the back of the bus for white students to sit up front.
2.An off-duty black cop was beaten by 3 white men in Sea Isle City, N.J.
3.Middle-Eastern passengers getting kicked off of a plane for some ludicrous reason. Plus talks of racial profiling of ME people in the airports.
4. In Dearborn, MI, some Lebansese people were handed out letters in their mailboxes to go back to Lebanon and had racial slurs on them.
5. The latests "Surivior" show is segragating their teams by race. It has gotten some criticism from critics.
and other stuff that would make this list long. I personally think it's because of the open bigotry by our governement, that now hate is starting to rise for other minorites as well. What do you all think?

Exactly. It never really left. It just simmered under the surface, and sometimes not even under the surface. In certain spots in the US it has always remained rather blatant.

I still look at the US and wonder "wtf" about all the racism. Up in Canadia, it's just not that big a deal from what I've seen. Toronto, as crazy and mixed up as it is, doesn't have race issues that i've noticed, except the usual low income black neighborhoods getting torn apart by gun violence.

well i've said this before and i'll mention it again. I come from a racially/ethnically mixed (black, white, puertorican, mexican members) family and grew up in such a white part of Oregon; that I felt like the "dark" one b/c of my italian/latin heritage and i'm as white as a ghost down in L.A., but up in Oregon where everyone is blondey/blue eyes w/ little noses; i really felt like the minority. Anyway, i never EVER had an issue w/ racism until I swear to gawd; i had already lived in L.A. for a few years and expecially after working in a restaurant and at a department store where the customers of both places made me the rabid racist i am today! and i'll admit it, unlike most ppl, but yeah, i have pre-concieved notions now of "races" in L.A. at least and they always w/o fail live up to my expectations. Like for instance when i hear about a crime being described on the news I can guess 90% of the time accurately the race of the suspect before its announced. I know that at my upper class idealistic leftist college I wasn't racist b/c i'd get mad at ppl who were and it totally made me sick inside the way they acted, but now that I guess i've aged and gained real-world experience; i've just become what i've become and like i said before; working expecially in a regular type restaurant like Chiles or Olive Garden in Los Angeles at least, will make you that way. To anyone else here who has; you know what i mean.

Oh I'm not saying it left, what I meant was that is it being more and more blantant. Anyway I think it is and I also think that in some people's mind it's getting tolerated and that's what's pissing me off.

yeah well when you take pride in your "race" / culture; you're making it more pronounced and the most un-racist ppl i've known/heard speak don't even see "race" when they see ppl, its a non-issue to them and the "pride" thing has been shoved in our faces so maybe that's a catalyst for the spike in racial hostilities of late.

Now, SHARING the uniqueness of your culture with others is something else.. like the street festivals where everybody brings samples of their ethnic food, dances, music and such. THAT is multiculturalism, not this ridiculous racial 'pride' nonsense.

I mean come on.. Hey, I'm a white guy! I'm proud of my race! Why? Well hell we pretty much conquered the ENTIRE FRICKING PLANET. Go us!

Grimm, it's too bad you didn't visit Winnipeg recently. We have the largest and longest multicultural event in the world called Folklorama. I think you would've enjoyed it.
