Re: Supreme court to mull partial-birth abortion bans
What if I choose to off my 6 month old for personal reasons? The babies we're talking about here are just as much a baby as my hypothetical 6 month old. When you're talking about killing a viable person, you're talking about murder. That shouldn't be an option for anybody. If you're not at risk of dying, and you have your baby killed while it's in the process of being yanked out of your body when it could very well live on its own once it's out, you are an immoral, disgusting, selfish piece of shit who will be owed some massive negative karma, along with your evil doctor. I don't know how these people live with themselves. I also don't give a damn if I offend anybody here.
Re: Supreme court to mull partial-birth abortion bans
Your 6 month old is a different matter, considering it's not being a nutrient parasite inside you. Once born, it is afforded legal protections and is out of your direct bodily control.
and erm, partial birth abortions aren't exactly like giving birth and then bashing its head in. The thing still hasn't been born yet, but expulsion is induced.
Re: Supreme court to mull partial-birth abortion bans
More talk about "legal" and not what's right.
And it IS pretty similar to what you described, it's just that the poor thing is partly out before they kill it. They COULD pull it out & let it live, but that would be inconvenient for somebody, so yeah.
My hypothetical 6 month old might not be a "nutrient parasite" but it is just as dependent on me as my 6-9 month old fetus.
If my nutrient parasite were just born, it would be a baby. Ta-daa! But since I choose to kill it because it's only halfway out, it's NOT a baby.
Illogical & immoral. I don't give a damn about what's LEGAL in this case.
Re: Supreme court to mull partial-birth abortion bans
I repeat: it is not a baby brought to term, and then yanked out. It's still a developing fetus, and a form of birth is artificially induced.
You're welcome to your views on the morality of it, but that view doesn't give you the inherent right to force it on others.
That's the crux of the issue.

I can only hope you have a job that has no contact with the outside world.
Re: Supreme court to mull partial-birth abortion bans
I can only hope that one day you'll get a college degree, take a political sciences course or maybe philosophy.
Re: Supreme court to mull partial-birth abortion bans
The traditional family is WAY overrated and I believe at its very roots dysfunctional. It is the way our culture does it, so it must be right? Right? Mommy, Daddy, oatmeal cookies in the oven, one kid at school, one in diapers, one on the way...it is all just a social construct and a way of controlling people. Opposing a womans right to control her own body is an attempt to reinforce these proscribed roles.
Re: Supreme court to mull partial-birth abortion bans
By that definition, any fetus is developing. Denying it the right to live because it's still developing is bullshit.
Nobody with any common sense and honesty could deny that an 8 month fetus who is born prematurely is a baby. You cannot deny that. The ONLY variable in this situation is that the same fetus is killed before it can be completely removed.
It's a nasty little loophole, so as to avoid having to call it a baby. That would be inconvenient, since everybody frowns on killing "babies" (well, most everybody.) But since it's not completely out, you can technically call it something else, so therefore it's ok to kill it. Call it what you want. Call it basket, a brick, or a microwave, it's STILL a viable human being.
If anybody says differently, then it's because they want to preserve their current legal right to be a selfish piece of shit. With any luck at all, my view WILL be forced on people because I am very much not alone on this, and I'll sleep quite well at night when it happens.
Re: Supreme court to mull partial-birth abortion bans
well considering I was shlepped around on an airplane my entire childhood (mom is a flight attendant) or dropped off at some stupid babysitter for sometimes 3 days at a time I really wish I HAD that mom or dad at home with oatmeal cookies in the oven. It's the children who need that tradition.

I don't give a hoot about the traditional family thing. I think that if a child is raised with love & patience & all that other stuff, the rest is just window dressing.

Well then you can go hug all the masses of dividing cells in every pregnant womans uterus, and try to rescucitate all those skin cells you shed every day.
Same shit.

Or the bearer of what could, potentially, be a human being that isn't yet. Heaven forbid said walking uterus should have an opinion or choice in who controls her body.

WHERE IS IT on your map that women are getting elective abortions at 8 months? Please tell me the name of an abortion provider here in the US that will give me an abortion at 8 months because I all of a sudden decided I didn't want a baby. This is essentially a NON issue that people who want to control women use to introduce anti-choice legislation and use as PROPOGANDA.
Re: Supreme court to mull partial-birth abortion bans
I just thought of something funny about the anti-abortion people.
Their motto is a complete oxy-moron
"CHOOSE LIFE!"
If they had their way, there wouldn't BE a choice.

So its the universities that are producing this corrupt view of the world? Has been professors who are still stuck in 1960's socialistic ideology? Has been professors who have a pathological need to destroy long held national traditions? Has been professors who push their sick agenda on to naive young people (i.e. Ward Churchill)? No, thank you.

What corrupt view is that?

As opposed to the fascist ideology present that you'd rather promote?

What, university professors have done away with baseball? Wtf are you talking about ? lol

No, professors who encourage students to think from more than one angle, instead of the brainwashing military institutions you'd rather see that would replace them.
