Who cares?

Its part of the system. Just because you give a country aid doesnt mean they have to vote in their favour.

Its a free world and votes are not bought and sold.

Thats the point of the UN and the basic concept of a free democracy of nations.

I like how "not voting the way the US wants" = "they hate us"

I'm with EvilMonkey on this one, I don't see the value of correlating Foreign Aid with UN votes...I am a bit astounded that America continues to hand out so much Foreign Aid when it can't pay it's own bills...but I suppose that's another matter entirely.

The US is like the Uncle that paid your way through college...

but molested you.

Most US foreign aid comes from the World Bank which is categorized under the US aid because it started off as a US government organization. It expects that all projects and initiatives it funds to have a return with an overhead of at least 10%. That's trillions of dollars annually from poor countries. Bangladesh is in debt to save it's people from annual funding (how effective that is, is up for debate). As well...the aid doesn't always go to the countries themselves, they usually go to american corporations which are then given free pardons to enter the countries to set up shop and begin their own mini-economies. why would a country want a transnat when they can have their own companies?

I don't get your point. You're inferring that only people who live in the U.S. can have a valid opinion of the UN? Or what?

It's called the UNITED nations for a reason, IMO, as in all nations united for mutal benefit to each.

And what's the deal with the huge black and red type?

The deal with the huge black and red type, Dear is that that is the way it was sent to me. Sorry if it bothers you. Its not intended to be "yelling" as Im sure that is what you are implying or thinking.
I was not "inferring" that only people who live in the US can have a valid opinion of the UN. I just noticed and, I was joking by the way, that at the time I posted only people from other countries had replied and I took it as basically the US is stupid for giving foreign aide to these countries who "hate" the US.
You know I thought I was allowed to post questions and replies within reason yet you are making me feel like I cant state or voice my feelings.
Wont see me post in the Politic thread again, dont want to get attacked or talked down to.

i actually think it'd be worse if all those countries agreed with the US. then it'd look like the US was buying their votes, and that would be alot scarier.

You know how much oil and other trade deals these countries give to the United States?Have you EVER thought of that?

Do you know the issues they are voting against the U.S. on?

Even though the U.S. bitches about the U.N., they have a seat in the Security Council and can veto any damn thing they please and it would not pass because they would veto it. It has happened so many times on issues concerning the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, for example.

And just because they vote against certain issues against the U.S. or against them it means they HATE them?
