Default Will Bush be safe in Pakistan?

There is a plethora of articles on this at the usual news outlets: cnn.com, abcnews.com, foxnews.com, cbsnews.com bbc.co.uk...take your pick to get the gist of what is being said.

What I want to know is this: do you think Bush is on some sort of suicide mission in order to deal his legacy? Nothing like an assasinated prez to get people to start building memorials while they conveniently forget the many crimes and misdemeanors.

It's sick enough that a man who professes not to read will get a library named after him.

Excellent point, Grimm, although he now alledges that he does read...and those books generally back up his sicko world view.

Sounds like something Dick Cheney is behind. It would put Dick in charge. Be the first time a real penis is in charge of the nation.

Did you see the reports in the tabloids that the hunting accident was actually a drunken infidelity spree and Cheney's gf is the one that actually pulled the trigger?

Big article about it in the Globe. I actually broke down and bought the issue so I could read the article. I'll transcribe and post here this afternoon when I get a chance.

Nothing to get too excited about. I just read the article in depth and they are basing this mostly on internet conspiracy theories and stuff they read in blogs.Reminds me of the time when the National Enquirer ran a piece on the supposed wicked, wicked past of Richard Belzer by hitting my Homicide website and lifting huge quotes out of the many long out of print articles listed there and tried to claim it was an "Interview". Here it is anyhoo.

Quote:
Notoriously secretive VP Dick Cheney's bizarre hunting accident has a lot of people wondering what really happened and why 14 hours elapsed before the near-deadly mishap was publically reported.

Some speculators are saying Cheney was hunting more than quail when he shot his pal Harry Whittington on the ranch of a Texas lobbyist on Feb. 11 and needed time to cover up an affair with a longtime galpal.

"It's Cheney's Chappaquiddick!" declares an Internet blogger. "He was with a woman to who he's not married."

Others suspect that booze was involved and the 65 year old VP needed time to sober up or that Cheney had a heart problem that made him collapse and accidentally pull the trigger, shooting Whittington, 78.

Some bloggers even wildly suggest that Cheney's hunting partner, Pamela Pitzer Willeford, the U. S. ambassador to Switzerland, actually fired the errat shot but Cheney took the blame to divert attention from her.

This much is known - Cheney was in a three-person hunting party on the 50,000 acre rance of lobbyist Katharine Armstrong, and at about 5:50 pm, Whittington was hit in the torso, neck and face by approximately 200 pellets from a 28 gauge shotgun.

Secret Service personnel swarmed the area, and Whittington, an attorney, wound up being hospitalized for six days. But news of the shooting wasn't released until the day after it happened.

"Has anyone asked if it might have been the other hunter who actually shot Harry Whittington?" ponders lawyer and broadcaster Cenk Uygur. "Imagine the kind of attention Willeford would have received if she was the shooter. It's possible the only thing more damaging than the vice president shooitng someone might be his mistress shooting someone."

Uygur says all suspicion could have easily been laid to rest if Cheney had simply been more open about the mishap.

"None of these questions would have come up if all the evidence was turned over to the sheriff's office right away and the vice president and the other hunters had undergone Breathalyzer tests," he says.

Cheney admitted having one beer at lunch, several hours before the shooting, but insists no one was under the influence. The veep does have two drunken driving arrests on his record, both in Wyoming when he was in his early 20s. He has since kept his nose clean.

Meanwhile, Cheney's relationship with Willeford - whose physician husband George was at the ranch that weekend but didn't hunt - is longstanding.

She collected $23,000 for teh Bush/Cheney campaign, serves as head of the Texas Higher Education Coordination Board and was appointed to the highly sought-after ambassadorship of Switzerland.

But even without Willeford, the incident reeks of coverup, says anonymous sources.

"Someone with a documented history of drinking problems causes a serious accident and then avoides the authorities for a period of time, long enough to get the alcohol out of his system," says conspiracy theorist and broadcaster RJ Eskow. "It's about power, drinking, irresponsibility and dishonesty. If there was no romance going on, the issues are still the same."

Along with the secret mistress and drunken gunplay theories, some bloggers believe that Cheney had a heart problem and his implanted defibrillator kicked in, jolting him into shooting his gun.

"The Secret Service took both men to the hospital and put everyone into news-shutdown mode," explains a blogger. "Whittington gets medical attention, Cheney is treated by his private physicians and unavailable for 24 hours, which is why the news was delayed."

Adds a political insider, "A lot of speculation might have been avoided if the news had been released promptly and opently. But that isn't always the vice president's way."
