Default May Day 2010: A cry to God for a nation in distress

"And whereas, it is the duty of nations as well as of men to own their dependence upon the overruling power of God, to confess their sins and transgressions in humble sorrow yet with assured hope that genuine repentance will lead to mercy and pardon, and to recognize the sublime truth, announced in the Holy Scriptures and proven by all history: that those nations only are blessed whose God is the Lord."
    --Abraham Lincoln, March 30, 1863

Proclamation appointing a National Day of Prayer and Fasting

May Day 2010 - A Cry to God for a Nation in Distress

When: May 1st 2010 - Starting at Sunrise
Where: The Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C.

Join with Christian leaders of all denominations who love God to humble ourselves, pray, seek the face of God, and turn from our wicked ways—individually and as a nation.

This event is not to impress the media or those in Washington, but to reach the heart of God. Publically repenting and crying out to God for His mercy instead of the judgment our many sins deserve.

“But He took note of their distress
    when He heard their cry;
for their sake He remembered His covenant
and out of His great love He relented.”
    --Psalm 106:44, 45

Sadly, I had to make a couple of punctuation changes to this drivel before I posted it, but I see they spelled "publicly" wrong. Damned if I'm going to fix that for them.

Should be some good footage of tooth gnashing and wailing.

Those fundies are so 'clever' with the play on words with May Day. They must've prayed really, really, really hard to come up with that.

Whatever, let 'em pray. At least we'll know where they are and what they're up to.

You don't suppose they deliberately chose it because it's International Worker's Day? You know, unions and socialist groups holding political demonstrations. Part of me thinks they might like the confrontation and the other part thinks they're to ignorant to have chosen that particular day on purpose.

I think the second option is more likely. Too ignorant to have chosen that day to tie it in with anything having to do with workers/unions. I think they just said "It's May, so let's call it May Day to signal that we need help in our prayer crusade, so the U.S. doesn't turn into H. E. double hockey sticks."

Although I think the idea of confronting anyone who isn't a fundie is appealing to them, too.

Yea for a group that lurves to embrace a religion purports to turn the other cheek (they do, right?), they sure lurves to pick a fight all the time. They must think they are the living incarnation (or is it reincarnation) of the holy crusaders by gosh!

I think we should all show up singing the International.

Isn't May Day a pagan ritual?

Maybe God will rapture them up and we can be done with the whole mess. It's really damn scary to see the Palin effect on this country.

Palin's just a symptom. This has been building long before she "gosh darnit"ed her way into politics.

^^Agreed. I've seen the religious crazy shit since I was a kid and it's just snowballed over the years until we stand here now with the American Taliban trying to take control of the country.
