Exclamation Nutjob at town hall calls himself "proud right-wing terrorist", GOP congressman claps

Imagine a Democratic House member praising a liberal for calling himself a terrorist, then defending it. You really have to hear this guy, it's not clear what country Republicans think they live in anymore. Huff Post has the video.

It was a comment from the crowd that may have gone unnoticed. A Redding man, identified as Bert Stead of Redding told a town hall meeting in Redding last week, "I"m a proud right wing terrorist."

Congressman Wally Herger, who represents the district, didn't interrupt or condemn the comment. In response, Herger said, "Amen. God bless you. There's a great American."

Now democrats are calling for an apology from Herger.

Apologize? The House should be censuring him. What would do the Republicans do if a Democrat had done this? We keep thinking the Democratic side of our brain - that would be the anemic side - and it has to stop. These outbursts need to be used against the GOP in a huge manner. Not just by getting the blogs to blast them, but senior members of our government need to weigh in, just as the GOP would do.

AMERICAblog News| A great nation deserves the truth: GOP congressman praises, defends, man for calling himself a "proud right wing terrorist"
That congressman should be removed from office

Both those men, and the people applauding them should all be investigated as terrorists. And I'm being totally serious.

Ugh. The arrogance and ignorance of that man. "My family came over on the Mayflower and no one had their hand out." Fucker. The people who came over only survived because the tribes in the area helped them NOT STARVE. Asshole.

I swear, these people are going to explode if a health care bill of any kind is passed whether it includes a strong public option & mandates or not.

^^George Lopez made a good point about the people who came over on the Mayflower. He said they were the original illegal aliens.

I was just making a similar point on another thread. Why isn't the media calling these people traitors?

The FBI needs to arrest, jail and interrogate Bert Stead of Redding for admitting ON TAPE he is a proud right wing terrorist.

They also need to arrest and interrogate Wally Herger for praising terrorism ON TAPE.

Because they aren't brown people with 'unAmerican' names. If they were, it would be easier for the media to label them traitors and terrorists and boost ratings.

Yeah, "dark" people protesting war and torture herded into "free speech zones" miles away from a political event are threats to America, but a white self-proclaiming himself a terrorist directly to a politician is heroic.

They put on this "america" facade because they're too afraid to don the white sheet.

    Exactly.

As for the white sheets, they don't need to wear them. They know that by not wearing them they can freely move into positions of power & influence where they can do the most damage by wrapping themselves in the flag and calling themselves 'patriots.'

    This is very disturbing.

When Bush was in charge, the FBI infiltrated a social group of older people who liked to meet at a house in Berkeley, have tea and cookies and talk about politics! I would watch what websites I visited because I felt the government was tracking me. My husband would warn me about talking about Bush in public.

Republicans are showing up to Obama and Democrat meetings with visible rilfles and handguns and talking about killing people (including Obama).

They're getting more bold and vicious. The Democrats need to play hardball too.

I remember when they infilitrated that group at Berkley. They acted as if those people were terrorists. Unreal.

As for the Dems, they have to be really careful how they approach this. Because if they launch a frontal attack on a bunch of nutjobs it just emboldens them even more and makes them think they really are being targeted by the evil, non-American, Muslim, socialist in the White House. And that can be the spark to really set them off, especially since people are already on edge over the recession.

The Dems need to deal with it, but they have to be careful it doesn't blow up in their faces.
