Default Fox News commentator Shepard Smith: 'We do not f***ing torture.'

I have to say, I'm impressed that Fox News aired this segment, and I'm impressed with this segment and Shepard Smith. Maybe we are making progress!
Shepard Smith Uncensored: "We Are America, We Do Not F**king Torture!" (VIDEO)

Update: scroll down for Smith's uncensored comments
Fox News viewers witnessed a rather incredible scene on Wednesday as anchor Shepard Smith and Fox contributor Judith Miller (of CIA leak infamy) repeatedly and passionately condemned torture, with Smith declaring at one point, "We are America, we don't torture! And the moment that is not the case, I want off the train! This government is of, by, and for the people -- that means it's mine. That means -- I'm not saying what is torture, and what is not torture, but I'm saying, whatever it is, you don't do it for me! I want off the train when the government starts -- I want off, next stop, now!"

The full segment is worth a watch. And Smith felt strongly enough about the issue to speak out about it again as he was heading into commercial break.

"They better not do it," he said. "If we are going to be Ronald Reagan's Shining City on the Hill, we don't get to torture. We don't do it." Fade to black.'

Watch the segment above (Smith's comments begin at about 3:45).

UPDATE:
On FoxNews.com's online show The Strategy Room, Smith took his opposition to a whole other level. "We are America!" he shouted, slamming his hand on the table. "I don't give a rat's ass if it helps. We are AMERICA! We do not fucking torture!!"

Baby steps Grim. I totally agree with you. But this is a massive improvement. It makes me so happy that this segment aired and penetrated the consciousness of the brainwashed viewers of Fox News. I expected nothing less than a complete defense of these methods and its amazing to see that even Fox News is coming down hard on this.

I don't buy it. The outrage NOW seems disingenuous.

Yes, all outrage about torture and support of gay rights need to be ran by Grim first so that we'll know if it's genuine or not. You are KILLING me!

I'm suggesting the TIMING is suspect. Why now? Why not in the last 8 years? Whynot so much as a peep then?

Doesn't anybody else think that's a bit off?

The motivations don't matter to me, honestly. Sincere or insincere, its serious progress. Just think of this going into the living rooms of those fundies in whatever GOP stronghold they reside in. One of their 'trusted' news sources said this, so its got to be true. Maybe they'll seek out those memos, read it themselves, and deal with some of the honest truths about what was going on in the Administration they supported.

And to me, that's amazing.

But the way I read that is that Fox News viewers would believe that the US doesn't torture people...... even if one of the senior men at the CIA resigned over it in the last 10 years.

I would whole-heartedly expect any US news service to say this since most of them don't even acknowledge that the Geneva Convention was broken by Bush's regime.

Perhaps I'm more cynical in that I don't trust FOX news one iota and suspect they have some sort of agenda that indirectly helps Bush and his cronies.

I agree, Grim, the information was there all along and we all knew it, they knew, everyone knew it - so part of this is disingenuous. But, it is a step. It's somewhat like how the right is losing people in torrential waves, so it is now politically expedient to suggest that opposing gay marriage is apossite to traditional conservative thought. Right result, suspect motives.

Of a big concern to me, that Cliff dude said that those techiniques were necessary because they were used on people who weren't criminal defendants (so didn't have protected rights) and weren't prisoners of war (who were only required to give name, rank & serial no.) WHAT THE EVER-LOVING FUCK???????? Another thing we all knew...Bush admin. were kidnappers and of course we all know if you want info from hostages, you can torture.

Why do I have Crazy Train running through my head right now???

Yeah that Cliff guy was an abomination. He's not acknowledging the fact that they weren't classified as criminal defendants or prisoners of war because Bush invented that disgusting 'enemy combatant' classification so he could use torture, and that in many cases the prisoners were held without being charged with anything.

He's a fucking lunatic - so its ok to kidnap foreign nationals from their own country, fly them off to a 3rd country, torture them, destroy their lives & sanity........ Astounding.

If it happened in the US to US citizans instead of non-US citizans it would NEVER have happened, but they insist in treating the rest of the world as a playground for their illegal actions.
