On a side note...I just watched "Turistas" and the accents were spot on for brazilian dialect Portuguese!

^^ I love Drew, but she did sound an awful lot like Elmer Fudd in that movie.

Julia Roberts in Steel Magnolias. I understand she's from the south, but the accent was still comically bad.

Gwyneth Paltrow in Sliding Doors and Renee Zellweger in Bridget Jones's Diary both had accents too upper-class for the characters they played. Gwyneth Paltrow's was especially bad.

Michael Caine in Cider House Rules. He slaughtered that American accent.

How funny is this list?! Madonna made the list for her regular accent, not for one that she tried to perfect in a movie role. hhahahahahahah
The fact that Dick Van Dyke made the list has me in tears because my house is currently on a Mary Poppins role and I have to sit through that performance three times a day. It really is quite bad. I'm just surprised they thought to include him. The rest of the actors on OK! Magazine's top ten are much more recent pieces.
10: Elijah Wood in The Lord of the Rings
9: Gwyneth Paltrow in Sliding Doors
8: Ben Affleck in Shakespeare in Love
7: Kevin Costner in Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves
6: Madonna (For her mysterious real-life Britishisms)
5: Natalie Portman in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace
4: Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins
3: Keanu Reeves in both Bram Stoker's Dracula and Much Ado About Nothing
    2. Britney Spears for her batty behavior in early 2008
    1. Scarlett Johansson in both The Girl With the Pearl Earring and The Prestige

Hey, gwenny's accent in Sliding doors wasn't THAT bad.

And I think Cate Blanchet should have made the list for the recent Indiana Jones. Great actress, but that british lilt kept slipping in, or even barging in at times

    ^Cate's Australian!

Most of the people on this list aren't "good people."

How can they list Kevin Costner without mentioning his heinous accent in JFK?

When I think of bad accents, Richard Attenborough springs to mind first. He went through about three accents in Jurassic Park.

Kevin Costner wasn't even trying in Prince of Thieves.

Costner's accent was bad in Thirteen Days, too. But his performance was very good, if you can imagine that. Strange.

I liked his performance in JFK. I think he's a good actor, he's just been in a lot of shitty movies. Loved him in that baseball movie too!! Field of dreams, was it?

ZOMG, there are like five threads on this already, LOL.

I didn't think Gwynnie's was too bad either Lola. Most people/critics that I've heard from seem to think she generally does a passable English accent, just that maybe it's too posh or non-specific sometimes.

I don't know if I can agree with Elijah Wood in LOTR, since it's not meant to be based on any existing Earthly accent. He's playing a Hobbit for crying out loud, not an Irishman or a Brit.
