I can't believe that Heath Ledger didn't even bother showing up to collect his award.

Didn't Sean and his wife break up some time ago? Why would he thank her?

And Heath was in last year's montage.

Eh, I suppose the Oscars had to make it up to the gays after the old Brokeback debacle.

That's what I get for stepping away from the thread for a minute! Looks like all the questions were answered for me, thanks ladies. I forgot about Heath being mentioned last year, Trixie.

Yeah, I wondered why Sean didn't thank his wife when she was sitting right there next to him. Oh well.

What was the debacle? Didn't it win best picture? I know it won something that year.

heath, kate, sean and penÚlope: no surprise there. slumdog as best picture: no surprise either.
i was hoping 'in bruges' would win something. it was totally overlooked.

what i am pissed off about though: i can't believe 'waltz with bashir' didn't win best foreign picture. that is a travesty.

They filed for divorce, but have reconciled. I believe they have a pretty tumultuous relationship. Did you notice how he was just going to walk up to the stage and she grabbed him to kiss her? She looked so bored throughout the whole thing until it was time for his award...
