Parasite Wow, what a movie. Great story, and so well done.

We went on a Disney binge in July with Luca and the latest Toy Story. The development of animation in the last 2 decades has been incredible.

I don’t have Disney but would love to see Jungle Cruise.

Finally saw Dune, and I LOVED IT.

I think Villeneuve did an amazing job at adapting the story and easing the viewer into the lore of Dune - the book is NOT an easy read, it takes AGES for the reader to finally understand terms that were used from page 1 and basically the first 200 or so pages are a struggle - this adaptation is smoooooooth.
Visually it is amazing, and what you'd expect from a Villeneuve SciFi film. The costumes are awesome, there are some really interesting looks, the visuals are grandiose, he has a thing for scales and how to make elements bigger than life and crushing.

Then it is a Villeneuve film, so it is ... rather dry (ah ah ah, see what I did there? XD) Both visually and emotionally so to speak. The characters aren't really heartwarming or upbeat, there is no comic relief or jokes or anything, and the colour palette, despite most of the film taking place on a fucking desert planet is rather cold as well.
Personally I loved everything about this, it is coherent with the books.

Beware that it is part I, so it kind of ends in the middle of nowhere (also, literally XD) which is rather unsatisfying. The movie does not work as a stand alone.
It was never intended to but it is still kinda weird.

The cast is great, my main problem is that I watched guardians of the Galaxy so many times that I couldn't take Bautista's character seriously, I always expected him to say something extremely literal and stupid ^^'

Oh and also, the music is fantastic, it had been a long time since I had enjoyed a Zimmer soundtrack that much.

Will definitely go and see it again, and by the way, do not watch it on HBO Max, if you can safely go to a cinema, it really is something on a big screen.

^^^ Thanks for the update. It looks like it got an early release where you are. I checked for here, and it's saying that I won't see it until October 22!!!

In the UK the release is also October 22 - that's super weird.

Anyways, I saw Dune again 2 days ago, this time I dragged my partner, Mr "Oh I'm not sure I'm a SciFi kind of guy" and he loved it. He has never read Dune or play the video game, he knew nothing about the story, and thought the adaptation made everything clear.
(always good to have the perspective of someone who's not familiar with the universe)

I kind of want to see that movie as much as possible to make sure it gets part II green lighted by WB.

(ps: by the way, amazing cast for all the bisexuals out there. This needed to be said XD)

Went to see House of Gucci yesterday. Liked it, didn't love it. Lady Gaga is trying a little too hard. Jared Leto is ridiculous. Salma Hayek was miscast. Interesting story, but I wish they spent more time on the murder and how they found out it was her behind it. It was 2 1/2 hours long. Big story to tell -- it might have been better as a limited series on a streaming platform.

    No time to die.
loved it and it went by quickly even though it’s almost 3 hours but I’m sad it’s the last bond with Daniel Craig

Some friends are going to see it this afternoon and asked me. I took a pass. Just based on the ads I've seen I didn't think I could handle 2 hrs of Gaga with that fake Italian accent. Based on what you posted, glad I said no lol.

We have tickets for "Spiderman - No Way Home" tomorrow night. Our son, who has had a booster, just found out that one of his friends in his tight circle tested positive for COVID, and we are going to get him a rapid test tomorrow morning. Very fluid situation....
