I watched Philomena over the weekend and I really enjoyed it. Judi Dench is just wonderful!!

We also watched Pompeii. It was okay. Really makes you think about how scary that would have been for those people during that event. I am sure they had no clue how bad it was until it was to late.

    Maleficent. I absolutely hated it.
It was visually stunning, the effects were amazing, but other than that it was just a big blah - they completely ruined the character according to me.
I hated that the character was a wronged woman and that all the blame fell once more on the male character. Apparently it's ok for a man to be the baddie but women have to be good.
So yeah, at some point, for like what, 5 minutes, she gets all evil and stuff, but then it gets very sappy and so déjà vu.
So another movie where the villain is in fact a man, and where the woman embraces her destiny to be a mother. Say no to clichés please !

The Grand Budapest Hotel - just finished watching it. My first Wes Anderson film. Absolutely loved it.

Warm Bodies, a sort of cute zombie movie with J-Law's boyfriend (can't remember his name - Tony from Skins) and Teresa Palmer. I had low expectations but I enjoyed it.

it does get boring when every female villain is evil because a dude broke her heart. it's like when male villains are evil because mommy issues. *yawn*

X-Men Days of Future Past - Loved it , a side note Halle Berry is a terrible actress , in the few minutes she was in the movie that was all I could notice was how bad she is.

I just finished watching "Enough Said" on HBO with Julie Louis-Dreyfus & James Gandolfini. I think this might have been James Gandolfini's last movie. I loved it, such a sweet movie.

Went and saw Maleficent on Saturday. It was okay, but didn't follow the Disney carton story of Sleeping Beauty. But, I guess they had to change it up some to give Maleficent an interesting, and then enduring story.

I had low expectations for this movie, but ended up loving it, and Sofia Coppola as a director. So far, I've liked her films a lot.

^^ same here, it was the opposite of what I expected. Have to admit, I like most Scarlett J. movies. We recently watched Scoop, Match Point, Love Song for Bobby Long and Girl with the Pearl Earring (again), and they are all really, really good. This is only the second Sophia Coppola movie I've seen, the first was Marie Antoinette. Hub and I really like that one as well.
