Defiance with Liev Schreiber. Good movie with a good story about Jewish partisans in Poland fighting Nazis.

Saw the Hunger Games last night. It was good but the first half drags a bit. I guess they need to hit the major plot points of the book but I was getting restless for the game to start. Overall though, fun watch. I hope the next one doesn't take two years.

    Side Effects
Rooney Mara is great. The ending was lame though.

Saw Ramona and Beezus tonight with my kids. That little girl who played Ramona was adorable and fabulous. It was a sweet movie that held the attention of my youngest (which is huge!). There are so few movies that are rated G and not animated. This was a nice little surprise.

Ramona and Beezus is a cute movie, my youngest daughter really liked it as a kid, so we bought it. I liked Josh Duhamel in it.....

Just saw Jane Eyre. Loved it. Michael Fassbender and the girl who played Jane were fantastic.

^I love those two in that movie, I wasn't surprised to hear the rumour they were shagging during the shoot.

just caught the last bit of a corny Esther Williams movie called Easy to Love and as usual the final production number was an extravaganza. She was water skiing with an ever increasing line of skiers behind her, doing all sorts of complicated weaving routines and then they started jumping ramps like they were Crusty Demons of Water, and finally Esther grabs hold of a swing and flies off on a helicopter from which she dives down to land perfectly placed to pick up her rope and start skiing again through giant spouting fountains, then after her final spectacular dive she emerges as pretty as ever with nary a hair out of place. The entire routine covered a distance of about 15 km of open water but then we cut to the cheering audience and they're all sitting on the terrace having dinner by the riverside. So much WTF but completely awesome.

the trip. the film made from the series of the same name, with steve coogan and rob brydon on a road trip/restaurant tour of northern england. it's a follow-up to 'a cock and bull story' and like that film, the dialogue is mostly improvised and coogan and brydon play themselves, albeit fictionalised versions. michael winterbottom directed again. they spend half the movie imitating michael caine to perfection. very funny and very clever.

I saw the series and loved it. So this is like the condensed version?

i haven't seen the series but it doesn't feel like a condensed series, if that's what you're asking. it's edited so that it it feels like an actual film but not having watched the series, i couldn't say how it compares. i loved 'a cock and bull story' and this definitely lives up to that one.

Thanks I'll definitely look out for it. It would be an easy series to cut down to a movie because 80% of it was them driving around and eating while having hilarious conversations. It would just be a matter of deciding which ones are the funniest. The storyline for what it was worth was secondary to them talking.

    ^^^
that sounds about right. the film is basically the same, with some storyline elements like steve coogan deciding whether or not to do a show in the US, his disintegrating relationship with his american girlfriend, him shagging everything that moves, etc.

prisoners. one of the best films i've seen this year - really good with lots of unsuspecting plot twists.

Loved Prisoners too. I'm not too fond of Hugh Jackman apart from his Wolverine role, but I loved how he portrayed the father of the kidnapped girl, very moving - and disturbing.

Saw the Hunger Games today, I really really enjoyed it, I actually think it was better than the book, which I thought was too rushed sometimes, and lacked depth. The movie set it right to me, I even cared for the love triangle, the thing that usually sets my teeth on edge.
And I love Jennifer lawrence, this girl is fantastic.
