I forgot to list the rentals we watched, too. Zero Dark Thirty, Les Miserables and Rock of Ages. Zero Dark Thirty was pretty good,...it is really amazing how long they worked to find the trail to get him. I also wonder why they would want to show that in a film, you know, how they obtained the intel and info on him.

I didn't care for Les Mis or Rock of Ages. My youngest wanted to see Les Mis because they sang the songs in choir, but I just can't do musicals. Then ROA's was bascially a musical too,...but at least I enjoyed the music in it. The acting and story was pure shit, though...lol Tom Cruise looked fat to me,...not sexy.
And that Julieann Hough,...she just plain sucks.

Two documentaries this weekend. Orchids: My Intersex Adventure from Australia and a UK documentary called How Gay Sex Changed The World. The first film was a very moving, sometimes funny and brutally frank story about a girl who discovers that she is intersex. She has the body of a woman, but the chromosomes of a man - she even has testicles inside of her that have to come out!!! She was so matter-of-fact about it, and she didn't make it tragic at all. I rather liked it. The latter film, however was a bit of a bore, save for the fact that it had Elton John's partner, David Furnish in it.

It is sad what a bad hit to the head can do to someone. He was so, so talented.

Saw the Purge. It was okay. I hate when people do stupid shit in movies but in these cases I guess the movie would be over if people were smart.

    Warm Bodies. Loved it.

Identity Thief. Better than I expected.

Me too. My husband loved her so I guess she works

The thought of Tom Cruise as a "rock star" gives me the willies.

I saw it back before the crazy, and thought he was great in it.

all the good things w/ ryan gosling and kirsten dunst. its based on the life of accused murderer Robert Durst. i found it interesting about a marriage's slow descent into hell (then murder). i also found myself thinking she was really pretty. ryan's old man makeup was weird but he was good too.

12 Rounds Reloaded 2 with Randy Orton.

let me say that one of my multiple personalities is a 15 year old girl who loves WWE wrestling.

The film is a WWE/20th century pic. Horrible acting, silly plot, but good gawd Randy Orton is just hot.

I just watched This is the End. I loved it. It was hilarious. If you liked Pineapple Express, you'll like this movie. I usually detest those over the top, man-boy movies like the Hangover, but I like this movie. It's just so stupidly ridiculous and funny and I think the characters are endearing even.

Blue Valentine with Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams. What a great flick, with really strong performances. Can't believe that Ryan got passed over for an Oscar nod - he was excellent in this.

Snow Cake-Alan Rickman plays a dude on the road to go see a friend. He picks up a hitchhiker on her way to see her Mom, who is a high functioning autistic lady (Sigourney Weaver). In short, Rickman and the girl gets into an accident, the girl is killed. Rickman goes to see the Mom to tell her, her daughter is dead. Weaver has me in a heaping blubbery mess by the end of the movie.

Meloncholia by Lars von Trier. Hate his camera work. Makes me ill, which is what Trier wants, I suppose, given that he thinks a good film should "kick a person in the gut." God he is so pretentious and irritating. It's a good film though. He seems to like beating up women but at the same time he lets the women carry all the meaning in his films. There's no humility about any of his films, he's playing a cruel god, but I like them anyway. I'd probably hate him in person.

Anyway, it's good, deep, stunning performances, Kirsten Dunst really can act, so can Kiefer Southerland.

Man of Steel. Really enjoyed it - it's not perfect: far too long and the last third of the movie was rather clumsily made. Good acting though and over all a good start to (hopefully) a new series of Superman films.

Dish network had free HBO this weekend so I watched Behind the Candelabra. Matt Damon was really good in it, but Michael Douglas was meh...

    Good movie overall though.
