I'm looking forward to seeing Zero Dark Thirty but I can't find anybody to go with me so I think I'll be flying solo to that one.

I saw Django Unchained today, I absolutely LOVED it. I thought it was so fantastic and I'm gonna go buy the soundtrack just now.

I watched Les Mis yesterday. Poor Russell Crowe - he can barely carry a tune but the movie was good. I watched Sessions today and I wasn't sure if I would like it, but it was actually very good. Helen Hunt was really good in it.

I decided to finish watching Silver Linings Playbook. I watched the first half a few days ago and finished it tonight. The second half was better, but I still thnk the movie was over hyped.

Saw Les Mis today - from the moment they started singing I got the giggles, and it only got worse when we realised they were going to sing every fucking line. Poor Rusty, he's such a bear you expect this deep rumble to come out, but he warbles away in his little reedy voice. Hugh was good and Anne was OK but hilariously over-acted and she shouted half her songs. It was pretty shit, one of my friends couldn't hack it and left. I wish I had.

Russell was better than I expected actually. Possibly because I thought he looked really good lol. I thought Anne Hathaway was fantastic too!

    Zero Dark Thirty

Amazing, truly amazing and Jessica Chastain was ace. Very cool film.

On TV I caught Hemingway and Gelhorn with Clive Owen as Hemingway and Nicole Kidman as his second wife, war correspondent Martha Gelhorn.

I could see that Gelhorn was a pretty amazing person but the movie didn't do much for me. Bad acting and the whole thing was like a documentary "Here they are in the Spanish Civil War, here they are covering the Winter War, here they are in China during the Cultural Revolution, complete with black and white newsreels. Also, Hemingway was a bit of a dick. Which I can believe but it was annoying.
What if Superman is psychotic and everyone can see that he's Clark Kent but they just play along not to set him off?

Seven Psychopaths - enjoyed that one. A bit whacky and the most entertaining of the movies I saw this week / weekend.

Also did some more Best Movie nomination catch-up.
Zero Dark Thrity - thought it was okay, probaly my second favorite of the 5 nominated movies I have seen.
Les Miserables - so not my cup of tea. For some reason I did not expect them to sing EVERYTHING.

Is it OK if I just let this stand as my review of Les Mis too, since I don't plan on seeing it? And also because it really made me laugh. I could hardly sit through the long ass previews they kept showing in theaters without having fifteen conniptions, much less could I take 2 hours of nonstop singing from those buffoons.

In one of the trailers I saw, they were describing how all the singing was all filmed live, and I thought, well that's sort of cool. I'm so stupid, I assumed everything would be acapella or with maybe a piano or something. Then they burst my bubble by saying they would replace the piano part with a seventy million-piece orchestra and I was back to getting hives just thinking about it.

    Skyfall
I finally got to watch it and my main impression is that it was really overrated. People hyped it as one of the best Bonds ever, no, sorry. Casino Royale is still the best Daniel Craig Bond film to me. I havent watched all the others to make a decision on best ever but both Quantum of Solace and Skyfall were alright. Not amazing, alright.

Finally saw My Week With Marilyn. Loved it. Redmayne was adorable--of course!--and Michelle Williams totally deserved the Oscar nom. She completely captured Marilyn's persona, and she is so pretty in this film the fact that she didn't look exactly like Marilyn was no distraction at all.
