Also, saw the last 30 minutes or so of "The Others" last night, with Nicole Kidman. Pretty crushing ending. Really bummed me out.

Then, I changed the channel to "Dream House", with Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz. It was almost like getting hit with a double whammy because of the similar theme. Luckily I stuck it out. It had a pretty cool plot twist (two, when you think about it). And holy smoke is Rachel Weisz easy on the eyes. Wow.

Watching The Core with Hilary Swank and Aaron Eckhart. Nice, cheerfully crude B-flick about scientists preventing an apocalypse by preventing the earth's core from burning up.

The Runaways and Snow White and The Huntsman
I can only wonder how KStew keeps getting work. They were both horrible. In The Runaways Dakota Fannings character seemed to just go along with everything. No motivation, no goals, just coasting on by. Snow White and The Huntsman, The Huntsman was so much more interesting it wasnt even funny. And why do they keep trying to act like shes so pretty? She isnt! She is not the fairest of them all! Stop lying! Cast someone beautiful for the role if you want to say that but not KStew!

I saw that in the theater, and we had snuck a bottle of vodka in. We got good and trashed in it, and the part where the birds start attacking everybody we just DIED laughing. Someone was miffed we thought the movie was awful and was all "do you MIND?"

We just laughed harder at it.

Went to see Looper which I really enjoyed. Although it did freak me out how much Joseph Gordon-Levitt looked and (for the lack of a better word) "felt" liked Bruce Willis.

The funny part is that JGL supposedly held back a little on the impersonation because they didn't want it to be too dead on. I'm looking forward to seeing this, but don't know when that will be.

My wife is taking the kids to see Frankenweenie tonight. I'm not sure I can get worked up to go see it, but it has gotten GREAT reviews....

Going to see Franenweinie tomorrow with two very excited little girls.

Got bored last night and watched a movie that was called 'True Crime' on the U-Verse guide, but the title card said Dangerous Kiss. From 1996. It might have been direct to video? In any case, it starred Alicia Silverstone and Kevin Dillon. I know, I know. But it was surprisingly dark and gritty. About a horrible series of murders of very young girls. Alicia plays a Catholic school girl who is obsessed with detective stories and tries to solve local crimes with the help of her deceased cop father's Captain. Her mouth bothered me as usual. Dillon was appropriately slimy and creepy. Oops, that's a spoiler but anyway, don't bother.

    The Mummy
, 1932. Boris Karloff. I hadn't remembered how surprisingly sophisticated this is. Great atmospherics. Loves it!

I enjoyed it as well. Went to see it in the theatre; it was my husband's birthday so his choice, and I wasn't really looking forward to it (didn't know it had JGL in it!) so I was very pleasantly surprised. They really resembled each other in a very natural way, not too on the nose.

I also saw The Station Agent at last. I really liked it, though I wish it could have gone on longer - and since I'm just seeing it now and know how good she is, I would have loved if Michelle Williams' part had been more substantial. I enjoyed all the actors in it, though; they had such charm and vulnerability.

OMG! WOW! Saw "The Master" yesterday, what an incredible film! First of all, it's shot in 70mm and the cinematography is splendid but more importantly, the acting! Philip Seymour Hoffman is spectacular and Joachim Phoenix keeps up beautifully. Paul Thomas Anderson does use Scientology as a genesis but it is not literal. Powerful emotions gorgeously portrayed. Don't miss it.

I watched Saturday Night Fever today on VH1 while I did my laundry. I couldn't find the remote and was too lazy to change the channel.

Yesterday I felt like it was scary movie weather, so I watched The House of the Devil and Insidious. Both promised to be scary and neither were, leading me to wonder if I'm desensitized to horror movies these days. Neither movie was particularly bad, they just didn't make me want to sleep with the lights on.

Laid up this weekend with tummy flu. Watched some POS direct-to-vid shit called Intermedio with Edward Furlong. Something about being chased by ghosts in a cave. Ridiculously bad, not even qualifying as camp. People kept saying, "what the ass?" in stressful situations. Guess they were trying to make it a catchphrase or something. Furlong looked bloated and stoned.

    Doesn't he look awful?
