So, the DVD, not streaming. I don't think they'll ever stream it, although I would be curious to see it.

Pro'meh'theus. The more I think about that movie the more irritated I become. As a HUGE 'Alien' fan, it was unneeded. As a standalone film, it was very nicely shot, competently acted but... the characters all did such stupid things that it degenerated into a stereotypical monster movie.

Ridley Scott's style is nowhere near as creative, inventive or risk taking as it used to be. Such a shame.

    Black Hawk Down.

    9/10.

I thought it was an amazing and underrated film.

Just watched this. Holy. Fuck. Disturbing doesn't even begin to cover it! That is one fucked up movie.

at first i was angry at the characters for not rebelling and for being so passive, too, but i think that's where the brainwashing sets in. they don't know the real world and how to live another (normal) life, in the scene where they're at the restaurant, they have no idea how to talk to the waitress or what to order. the stories they were told at school about what would happen if they left reminded me of "the village" and that probably sticked to them even in adulthood. they also knew they were being seen by the outside world as something less human, so why would they try to escape. they didn't like their purpose/destiny, but they accepted it anyway, because they didn't know any better.
I think they were bred or engineered to be passive, as well.

Coincidence! I just watched Eden Lake last night and came on here to say how much I loved it. I can't stop thinking about that film. I actually liked the ending - it was unconventional and the fucked up attitude really made a point that that is how people end up like that. I love horrors and I loved that this film was (mostly) realistic - it wasn't about a masked serial killer who is seemingly invincible or some paranormal shit, just 'normal' people. It was gripping the whole way through and very effective at making you root for the protagonists and truly despise the antagonists. And it had Michael Fassbender!

In my opinion, it was just too bleak - despite being realistic. For the most part, it was like watching two people being hounded and tortured to death. I would never watch it again. However, I would have liked them to make a sequel where a friend or sibling comes back to figure out what happens, and get some revenge. Clearly, just as the ending might have been realistic (closing ranks), it seems like a lot of evidence was left behind for cops to follow up on.

It was very difficult to watch, but I liked that it didn't have a happy ending, I think that would have ruined it completely. I hear there was a peen flashing I somehow missed, though

^ Yeah I am sure that they would have been caught. The families wouldn't have been capable of covering up all of the evidence imo. The cops would have been all over the area and there was blood and other evidence in places the main teen Brett didn't know about. It was still too late though. Pretty depressing But I thought it was a great movie and really terrifying.

edit: DeChayz, Brett flashes his peen at the couple somewhere near the start to be rude, I believe when they're at the lake.

Just watched 'Mabo' the telemovie about Eddie Koiki Mabo's landmark Aboriginal land rights case. Anyone who's seen the Aussie movie The Castle might remember one of the defences that their lawyer Dennis Denuto uses in court - "it's Mabo, it's justice, it's law, it's the vibe..."

I followed this case very closely for a long time and I've read Koiki's book so I practically knew the script but I was still so emotional by the end. The acting was fantastic and the story is so moving - incredibly uplifting yet tragic at the same time. 9.5/10 but maybe I'm biased.
