Bang the Drum Slowly (1973). A very young Robert de Niro as a baseball player dying of Hodgkins disease. There were times he reminded me a lot of Keanu Reeves. That was kinda weird. The movie was ok, a bit too maudlin at times, it was often hard to hear and understand the dialogue and I'm really clueless about baseball so all that went over my head too.

It's always the same with baseball movies, Bull Durham, In a League of their Own, Field of Dreams, The Natural, I've never figured out what is going on with this game.

The Fockers. ugh, what a stupid movie. After 50 minutes i just couldn't take anymore. I think I was waiting for something to happen that would make me laugh.

Who in the hell told Ben Stiller he was funny?

I agree. It was very depressing and gross at the same time.

It damn sure wasn't me. I don't get him at all. I think that he and George Lopez and the most overrated unfunny people.

    Johnny Got His Gun

read the Dalton Trumbo book a few yrs ago and decided to watch the movie on Netflix

could barely get through it as it was just too creepy

the book was creepy as hell too but just seeing it on the screen was strange

definitely don't think I'll ever watch it again

the book at one time was actually black listed during the McCarthy era because it was an anti-war book

Brokeback Mountain. For like, the fifth time. No, I don't think it's the best movie made like a lot of people, but I think Heath Ledger and Michelle Williams were both so amazing in it, especially Heath. He was heartbreaking. I still can't believe Phillip Seymour Hoffman won Best Actor over him for that horrifically mannered performance in Capote.

Yikes, why would you do that to yourself? I haven't read the book but I decided to rent the film after seeing Metallica's video for One:

For the longest time I didn't even know there was a movie, I thought it was the video clip. It is one of the films that really stays with you, I was 16 or so when I saw it and I wouldn't dare watch it again. What shocked me were the moments of dark humour, I remember almost laughing when the narrator takes stock of what he has left. No arms, no legs, no face.

I don't think I could take reading the book.

The last film I attempted to watch was a version of The Glass Menagerie with Katherine Hepburn as the mother. I just couldn't go through with it, it really triggered my embarrassment squick. I felt so bad for the son dealing with that mother and sister. I will probably try to watch it again.

^^ is the movie (johnny got his gun) disturbing in a graphic way or in an emotional way?

i watched "insidious" last weekend and it was the scariest horror movie i've ever seen. there were two scenes where i literally jumped out of bed. (my friend didn't find it scary at all, though.)

today i watched "chalet girl" - it's ok to watch while you're doing something else like doing your make-up or cleaning and if you're into ed westwick.

    I like the movie Capote

but even I felt that that truly wasn't Truman Capote he was playing

didn't really seem like him at all

There was another Capote movie that came out at around the same exact time as 'Capote' and I remember thinking the portrayal was much better.. can't recall the name of it but Sandra Bullock was in it as Harper Lee, I think.

I watched 'Best In Show' last night for about the 500th time. I love that movie so much... Christopher Guest is amaaaazing.

    yeah that was called Infamous

Toby Jones I thought did a much better job as Capote

however I scoffed at some of the scenes were they made it look like people thought that Capote was a woman when he was in Kansas

I also liked it because they showed more of his private life not just the book research and trial
