The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane (1976) - IMDb

I really enjoyed it, can't believe I'd never seen it before. Jodie Foster is insanely talented! Oh, and Martin Sheen plays an excellent creep.

I know what you mean, I had a hard time buying him as a man always wanting to hump on his wife. And he was so dumb I wanted to smack him! He's kinda cute even though something about him reminds me of Tom Arnold.... he and Maggie Gyllenhaal seem like an odd match.

    The Moon is Blue

Very interesting 50's movie. I didn't like it so much as just kept watching because I couldn't believe that the dialogue had made it past the sensors at the time. David Niven was just awesome. He stole the show. The film was really showing its theatrical roots but it was definitely fun.
There was an entire M*A*S*H episode based around that movie (I think the episode's called "The Moon is Not Blue"). The surgeons hear that the movie has been banned for suggestive dialogue, so they pull tons of strings and favors to try and get a copy to play in the camp's movie tent. When they finally do, their horrified reactions at how un-racy it is are pretty funny ("There was more filth and dirt in this morning's breakfast").

LOL, yes, that's about accurate. It is suggestive but there's nothing more than a couple of kisses.
The boyfriend has gotten the M*A*S*H dvds and we are going to do a marathon. That show has aged incredibly well.

Ice Dreams. UGH UGH UGH. Probably one of the worst acted movies I've ever seen. Stupid Shelly Long was in it and was horrible. It was an Ice Skating movie, so i figured it would be bad, but holy crap, it was just awful. Damned Hallmark Channel. lol

Death At A Funeral - the US version. I want my 90 minutes of my life back. It had to be one of the worst comedies I've ever seen in my life. I love Zoe Saldana, but she's not a comedienne.

Julie & Julia - one of the most overrated flicks I've ever seen. I am sorry but Meryl Streep was majorly miscast as Julia IMO. Like Will Smith in Ali, hers is not a performance, but an impersonation. Meryl is great, but sometimes she does rely too much on accents and mannerisms to get her point across. And I wanted to slap all of the modern-day characters, including Amy Adams' Julie.

Ghost Ship - I liked this movie, 'cause it didn't promise any more than it delivered. Mindless, fast-paced and slightly gory. Plus Ron Eldard is kind of cute.

Ugh, The Back Up Plan. I hired it because there was a sign in the store listing it as one of the top rentals of 2010 - before realizing it doesn't necessarily mean it's GOOD. Ha!

Sure enough, I need to stop falling into the trap of thinking a JLO film is ever going to be good. Couldn't even finish it.

    The Machinist

Christian Bale's emaciated frame makes the movie. Atmospheric and very well acted. I liked it.

Despicable Me - wanted to like it, but no. I'm forever in search of something that will compare to The Incredibles, Shrek or Finding Nemo, I guess.

Inception - I honestly don't know what all the fuss was about. I have a few friends that still want to debate whether it was his dream all along or someone else's inception or whatever. I say that -wait, spoiler, I think? - the top was getting ready to topple over and it was reality, and that's that.

The Other Guys - I am so over Will Ferrell and his adlibbing/improvving in movies. I'm sure he's a kick to work with at first, but after a while having to play the straightman to his neurosis/wacky humor would be exhausting.

I had a double feature last night, Dinner for Schmucks followed by The Other Guys.

Dinner for Schmucks wasn't bad, but definitely not that great. Steve Carrell is a good actor and can pretty much portray any role but I was deeply mislead by the commercials into thinking this would be a ferociously, hilarious, laugh out loud comedy...when I maybe ended up getting two or three little chuckles out of it. Zach Galifianakis was great though. I personally found it to be boring and slow during some parts and it took too long to get to the actual "dinner"...I'd give it a C- rating.

The Other Guys wasn't bad either...but just WAY overrated, imo. I was so excited to watch this because ALL I'd heard was how awesome and hilarious it was. Well, I laughed out loud maybe once. It was predictable, cliche (even for a Will Ferrell movie) and just not that great. I was very disappointed with this- oh, and while it was nice to see Mark Wahlberg in a different "comedic" role...it just didn't work for him, imo. His line delivery, facial expressions, timing were all off and cripplingly awkward...he tried though...I'd give it a C rating.

I'm just glad I didn't waste money on these movies, which were huge letdowns. I rented them both from Redbox.

The brain doesn't need blood. It just needs to be kept wet.

I've always thought that he married her because he couldn't marry her brother.

I'm dying to watch The Black Swan but it doesn't open here until the end of the month. For now I will twist some arms to go see the King's Speech. Hope it's as good as it looks.
