Shutter Island. Depressing, pretentious and with a stupid twist that was impossible to swallow.

Vicky Cristina Barcelona. Not much in terms of plot, but you know, I loved Penelope and Javier in this.

    Jennifer's Body again

Love it even though the effects suck.

It must be Shutter Island week because I watched it, too.

Twenty minutes in I pause it, tell hubby the "surprise" twist and he agrees.

Kind of ruins the movie when the director / editor or whoever is so inept they give away the movie at the start.

    Thought Leo was good though.

The Whole 9 Yards. BAD movie. Bad acting, bad everything.

Kill Theory. A horror movie about a sociopath who forces a group of college grads to kill each other off until only one survivor remains. I actually thought it was pretty good.

All the President's men. Again. Never get tired of it. Important movie,
from a political, historical and social perspective.
Excellent (under) acting by leads Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman
and a superior cast of supporting roles: Jason Robards, Jack Warden,
Martin Balsam, Hal Holbrook, Jane Alexander, Ned Beatty and even
those in very small, one or two line parts.
Fascinating to see how things, especially technology, changed since
roughly only about 40 years ago: no desktops or laptops but typewriters
(electric or not), notepad and pen, big bulky telephones, no cell phones.
People actually went to a library to manually research stuff, instead of
sitting behind their desks and hit Google.
Fantastic directorial work by Alan J. Pakula, who could even make
a phone conversation in the middle of the crowded newsroom look
    suspenseful.
It's like Roger Ebert said in his review:

Who'd have thought you could build tension with scenes where
Bernstein walks over to Woodward's desk and listens in on the extension
phone? But you can. And the movie's so well paced, acted, and edited that
it develops the illusion of momentum even in the scenes where Woodward
and Bernstein are getting doors slammed in their faces.
I'm sure I'll watch it again. Many times. And never get tired of it.

Blood and Wine. Uneven Jack Nicholson film about a financially-strapped winemaker who gets involved in a heist to save his vineyard. It had JLo in it...

    The Woods

The Woods is supposed to be a thriller about a girl who is sent to a creepy private girls school stuck out in the middle of nowhere. Unfortunately, it was neither thrilling nor creepy. It was just plain dumb. So dumb, in fact, that the film should have been run over with a tank and the flattened, ragged remains thrown into the woods never to be inflicted upon anyone. Watch this only if you suffer from insomnia and need something to bore you to sleep.

I thought the movie pretty much sucked. Parts of it was filmed in my local bar in Key Largo, The Carribean Club. They closed it for a week to film. It's not fun when you close a locals watering hole in the keys. People were very sober and miserable.

JLo was such a cipher in it, but then, what else is new?
I didn't care for it overall. Did your friends meet Nicholson at least?

Yes, The owners had pictures taken with Nicholson and they are displayed at the bar. No pics with JHo.
