The new Karate Kid. I went to in assuming it would be horrible. I was wrong. The movie was really good - really funny in parts but, much darker and "real" (for lack of a better word) than the original movie.
    1) Jaden Smith has the potential to be HUGE. He is a little cutie - the girls are going to swoon over him. He also has his father's charisma, sense of humor and cuteness. Not the greatest actor but, he did an acceptable job. Check out the stunts the kid does though. He could be a huge action star.
    2) Jackie Chan was awesome in this movie. Usually he is really campy - slap stick, over the top, over acting. He is a really dark, tortured character. He really stretches with this part and does a great job. Wouldn't be surprised if he is talked about at nomination time.
    3) The relationship between Jaden's character and his mother is great. My son and I kept looking at eachother and laughing because we identified with them so much.

Mamma Mia - for like the 10th time but it's fun to treadmill to, I get to sing along and I can sing better than Pierce Brosnan. I love this movie and it never gets old.

The Book of Eli: Starring Denzel Washington & Gary Oldman. I expected better from a movie starring two heavy hitters like Washington & Oldman. Visually, I loved the movie. The premise of the movie was good, but the story & characters needed to be fleshed out more. Although the twist at the end was really good.

Lords of Dogtown "The true story of the kids who created modern skateboard culture is recreated in this drama. In the early '70s, skateboards were seen as a fad of the 1960s that had all but died out, but in a rough-and-tumble Venice, CA, community known as "Dogtown,"

not bad - kind of a small role for Heath Ledger though. They've come a long way with skateboards since the 70's

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. (I only catch these when they get to cable) The best one yet, imo.

    Boogeyman - awful movie

I'm going to see A-Team next weekend with my sister so that should be fun.

Last week-Karate Kid - cute, and the Smith family, Jackie Chan, and the actress who played the mother all showed up so it was a nice surprise. I thought it dragged a bit in the middle but was a good movie. The fight scenes between the kids were BRUTAL!

And between Wednesday and Thursday this past week, I saw:

Grown-Ups - surprisingly good. Not going to win an Oscar, but it was really funny. There were a bunch of kids at the screening though, and I a lot of the humor is more adult-themed.

    Jonah Hex - bad. Just....bad.

A-Team - I don't even like action movies very much and this was GREAT! I really enjoyed it and thought it was well-cast and super funny.

Toy Story 3 - Midnight showing in IMAX 3-D - I don't know what words I can use other than amazing, fun, awesome, creative, funny, and "more please". Pixar has done it again, and somehow made a sequel that not only doesn't suck, but lives up to the original and surpasses expectations. The 3-D wasn't really necessary, though. If you see it in 2-D you will miss nothing, so just go see it!
