Went to see "It's Complicated". Hardly high art, but a pleasant diversion from the crappy weather. The troika of Streep/Baldwin/Martin is very entertaining.

Was supposed to be watching a film tonight, but feeling too depressed for it. Next on my list are Videodrome, La Strada, Belle de Jour and Rebecca.

The Hurt Locker, its a really good movie, but I can't really say I liked it. No real redeeming qualities in the main characters that you can relate to. Still an excellent flick and worth watching.

I checked out 'Passengers' with Anne Hathaway. Film about the aftermath of a airplane crash. Waste of time. Spoiler: Cheap ripoff of the Sixth Sense, where Anne realizes at the end of the movie that she died in the plane crash, and most of the people she keeps talking to in the movie are dead too.

Really well, I was so glad !
(but my pupils were really nice in this class, I could have done anything with them !)

They had never seen an Hitchcock movie (but they knew he was not a writer ! )

I saw 'Mr Nobody' last night, for some reason I liked it, but I din't understand a thing about it, it was really ... weird.

The Road. I read the book a while ago and was thinking..''This would not make a good movie''..I was right.
The child actor is brilliant in it, but as good as the story is, it wasn't meant for screen; it's too...uneventful visually..or something.

    Lovely Bones.
Can't say if I liked it or not. It uneased me, that's for sure, but the book also did.
The "afterlife" bits really annoyed me, far too "new age" or something. Sorry but I don't smoke pot.

Saoirse Ronan was very good though, the scene where she discovers she's dead is just OMG *o*

Belle de Jour: lame, I don't the big hoopla about it. Deneuve was good, but not throughout the movie. Some of the other actors were appalingly bad.

Videodrome: I've only seen 3 Cronenberg movies, but I can see the director's mark: an unsettling mixture of the kinky, the twisted and the mundane. I think I'm gonna have nightmares about it.

Agora. All the Christian bashing was fun, I don't think I've seen a more virulently anti-Christian movie but the film was overlong, lost focus with a stupid triangle and contained way too many anachronisms that were obvious even to a non expert. I liked Weisz's performance and most of the other cast was excellent too. The Spanish accents on the minor cast were a bit distracting at times, though.

American Graffiti. It was OK, but felt dated and it didn't have much of a story.

    The Fantastic Mr Fox

Indeed fantastic! I had never read the book, hadn't even heard of it. Loved the film, so quirky and hilarious!
