The Great Debaters ^^ worth the time. Denzel did a good job directing but he should have cast some one other than himself in the lead. Forest Whitaker would have been better in the role.

You do the math and realize it wasn't long ago all this took place. Sad time in our nations history... add other shameful adjectives

Chinatown. Faye Dunaway was excellent in this. I need a second viewing, cause the story's quite complex. Anyway, I've now seen several films by Polanski apart from Chinatown: Rosemary's Baby, Repulsion, Dance of the Vampires, The Pianist, Bitter Moon, Tess. I've bought The Tenant. Looking forward to watching all of his films

A horrifyingly BAD movie. Brought my daughter to see it in the theatre and not ONE PERSON laughed throughout the entire ordeal. Including us. In fact, we had barely gotten through the opening credits and my daughter was asking to leave. I should listened to her....

    ^i'm blind! good movie.

I saw The Curious Case of Benjamin Button earlier and overall it was an alright movie. A little slow at times. And makes you wonder why Brad Pitt ever made it this far as an actor, but the message of the story was good and Cate Blanchett was divine to watch as a young ballerina.

Bee Movie was painfully bad. I felt embarrassed on behalf of everyone in it!

Nice Polanski Fest you have going there, LaFolie, the only ones of these I haven't seen are The Pianist and Dance of the Vampires. And the only one I wish I hadn't seen and that it hadn't even been made is Bitter Moon. It had some ok moments and great acting by Peter Coyote but overall, a dud.
I think you're going to like The Tennant. It's a very creepy movie and Polanski's performance in it is just amazing.

Speaking of Chinatown, easily one of the best scripts out there. There is also a sequel called The Two Jakes. It's actually rather crappy but I wanted to revisit the characters myself and (spoilers for Chinatown and the Two Jakes, highlight to read: Meg Tilly as Faye Dunaway's daughter/sister was a stroke of genius casting.

    yanna, i agree.
and you have to watch dance of the vampires/fearless vampire killers, it's the campiest, funniest thing ever. i love that movie.
the pianist is good - adrien brody does an amazing job - but i honestly thought it was a bit overrated. i mean, it's a competent movie, very earnest, very serious, but a totally conventional oscar-bait hollywood vehicle so i was a bit disappointed. i like my polanski with a bit more of an edge.

Watched The Wiz. Needed to be shorter with more Michael Jackson and less Diana Ross. Just watching Diana Ross made me realize even more that Beyonce is trying to channel her.

I agree with you on The Pianist. Bitter Moon (which I caught on TV ages ago) is far from a masterpiece, but there's a sexiness to it...

ETA: just watched the first half of my rented copy of Barry Lyndon. I wanted to watch it again, because even though I kinda lost track after 30 min the first time, I knew it was a great movie I had to give another try to.

Well, you know Hollywood and Holocaust... Just like they gave Benigny an Oscar for that insulting piece of crap Life is Wonderful...

I definitely want to watch Dance of the Vampires, I've heard so much about that movie!
