I rewatched "Must love dogs" on the weekend. Craptastical film, but I needed some John Cusack in my day.
When your daughter plays "House," she pretends to be an annoying doctor with a pill-addiction and a limp.

Factory Girl: Sienna Miller and Guy Pearce are outstanding
Hayden Christenson is good for him. Good character piece.

I'll probably see that because I've always been interested in that era. Guy Pearce is always good (and easy on the eyes).

You might not find him so handsome in this flick. He plays Andy Warhol. And he's really good.
I watched Disturbia as well. Really good but mainly because of Shia LaBouef. I'd see anything with this guy.

    This is England. ****

I believe it won all kinds of awards in England last year. It was very hard-hitting but I was really glad to see it. My girlfriend's husband actually lived it back in the Thatcher days, so we were all very interested to traipse over to the local indie theater to see it last night.

I couldn't help but draw parallels to what is happening in the U.S. right now and other places in the world. I also thought of what I was doing at the time this movie is taking place. I was very pregnant with my daughter and the Falklands had happened a few years ago. Never realized what was going on in England at the time and after the Falklands "war." These occupations that pose as wars are so destructive for so many, and so profitable for so few.

I do believe the movie has several levels that are worth thinking about, and I don't believe that Thatcher was all bad, but there were tons of people who greatly suffered during that time.

Recommended if you like this type of movie and/or are interested in English history. One warning: Yanks will often be unable to understand the thick accents!

Thank you latina4ever! Yeah, I did an abrupt MIA and apologize to everyone for that. I just needed a break for several different reasons.

Last film I checked out was Blood Diamond. Great movie. Leonardo DiCaprio & Djimon Hounsou both deserved the Oscar nominations they got. Very good insight into the diamond trade, and how events around the world are connected. The movie walked a fine line between drama and being preachy, but never fell into that trap.

lol Hi Sophie! I saw when checking all my old threads (there were like 150 or something!) that there is someone with the username Mitra. That's not me. Looks like someone from India. Seeing as how it's well-known that I love many things India.... well we won't go there
