Kalifornia. Brad was excellent, Duchovney was serviceable, Juliette evinced a lot of weirdly unnecessary mannerisms, and Michelle Forbes was beautiful.

I watched it the other night and laughed throughout the whole damn thing. My husband felt like you and kept asking me what was so funny. I don't know, I guess I watched it at the right time and place and was in the mood for exactly this movie, so I found it hilarious. It wasn't really the story but the actors' reactions to the action. When Clooney got all paranoid in the park I about died!

I chuckled once or twice, but I didn't laugh out loud once. It wasn't a bad movie, it just had issues with the plot. Clooney's character was written to be all over the place, and Frances McDormand's character was too whiney and needy.

Brad Pitt's character was probably the funniest character, except with the goofy way he was written they should've cast somebody in their 20's instead of Brad. Seeing somebody in their 40's be that goofy wasn't believable. But a few things in the plot weren't that believable.

^^Almost none of it was believable. Can you imagine a CIA chief being so blase about some of the stuff that was going on?? Hee hee, no. But the outrageous goofiness of it is one of the things that struck me so funny. Brad being a 40 year old dood was part of it. It did have a sort of cohesive slapstick logic, ie a series of misunderstandings taken to comic extremes by characters who took it all oh so seriously. WE were not meant to take any of it seriously, just enjoy the ride . Like I said, I was in the mood.

^^It's not about taking the movie seriously, especially since it's the Coen Brothers. But whether a movie is a satire or dark comedy it should still have some plot cohesion & believable character development. I was in the mood to laugh too, but Burn After Reading didn't accomplish the goal.

Hubby had the day off yesterday and we stayed in bed watching movies, eating, and errr..watching movies.

Paris, je 'taime with...all sorts of people. Loved it.

Confidence, with Ed Burns and Rachel Weisz. Not bad, not fabulous.

Fur: An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus with Nicole Kidman and Robert Downey Jr...I enjoyed it.

The Secret Agent..from the mid '90's and based on this book. with Patricia Arquette, Bob Hoskins, Gérard Depardieu, Christian Bale, and Robin Williams ffs. It could have been a LOT better.

Holy Smoke, with Kate Winslet and Harvey Keitel. Bugged the shit out of me.
